A/N Hi guys, I can't believe I have over 200 reads!! You are all amazing, thank you for reading my book, it means so much to me <3

I'm up late writing this, so if I have made any mistakes, please correct me...my brain is almost completely dead at this point...

Have fun and enjoy!

PS. This chapter is really, really short...I'll try and make up for it by updating sooner :)

"Don't. You. Dare."

Keefe dragged his knife lightly across Sophie's neck teasingly, not hard enough to hurt her but hard enough to draw a faint red line. Sophie squeezed her eyes shut and tried to reach out telepathically for help, but the searing, blinding pain slashing across her brain was too much for her.

Sophie's shoulders slumped in defeat and she deliberately looked away from the boy before her. He had betrayed her.

In what she knew would be her final moments, she thought of Edaline, kind, beautiful Edaline who was always there for her. Grady, her beloved (adoptive) dad, overprotective and funny, Biana, the most amazing best friend she could ever wish for, Silveny, who was loyal and faithful always, Iggy, the stinkiest creature in the Lost Cities, Dex, her first friend here, kind and sweet... and all her friends she would never see again.

Sophie tried not to let her tears well up in her eyes. She knew she needed to be strong. Show that stupid boy she wasn't afraid of him.

That boy. That was what Grady had always called him. Grady had never trusted him.

Grady.

This time Sophie didn't care and let the tears stream out of her eyes. All of her built up tension was released, and Sophie watched Keefe's eyes flicker with emotion for a second before it disappeared and his cold stare hardened.

It was as if something was possessing him to be like this...

Keefe slashed the knife across her neck, tearing at her skin...leaving only a cut. Her body twitched, and she let out a scream. She panicked, before looking around the room like a frightened wild animal, realising she was still alive.

He wasn't going to kill her?

Blood welled up and gushed from Sophie's wound, running down her top, staining it. Keefe stepped away, sliding his knife carefully into his cloak.

He wasn't going to kill her!

Then what DID the Neverseen have in store for her?

Sophie didn't move. She was too tired to and her limbs ached. But the relief washing over her shoulders was spreading over her body, sparking the tiniest bit of hope.

He didn't kill her. There was a chance she could make it out alive!

One of the cloaked figures stepped up to dab at and patch her wound like she would have in the human world. It was clear by now that the Neverseen needed her alive.

But what did they do to Keefe?
