Hayley's POV
It was early. Earlier than I'd like to be awake. I was at the studio for an interview with Elvis Duran and the Morning Show for my new book, Outlier. I was more excited than I'd like to admit. This is my favorite radio show and to be interviewed here is an absolute honor. This was it. I'd made it!
I sat at the table nervously, turquoise blue headphones on, surveying the lime green walls. My microphone sat inches away from me. We were just waiting for the green light to go ahead with the interview.
Elvis was sitting across from me talking to his co-host Bethany, an attractive blonde with a sweet smile, and Danielle, equally as attractive with darker, reddish hair, when the door to the studio opened.
I couldn't believe my eyes with the person I came face to face with. At first I didn't see him. He was walking in behind his publicist, Luke Windsor, but then he raised his head and our eyes connected.
Tom Hiddleston. I couldn't breathe. I had had a celebrity crush on this guy for years. He gave me a shy smile before nibbling his lip and then greeting The Morning Show crew. He hugged Elvis and kissed each lady on the cheek. Lucky girls.
My face must've been red because Elvis gave me a smirk before telling Luke and Tom to have a seat. He was talking to them quietly. I caught something about a movie promotion and remembered that the new Avenger's movie would be out soon. He must be doing press like I was.
"You ready, sweetheart?" Elvis asked me, and I nodded.
"Good morning, guys and welcome back to Elvis Duran and the Morning Show. This morning we have special guest and current New York Time's Best Selling Author, Hayley Vance from Outlier fame and also in the studio we have Loki himself, Tom Hiddleston."
"Good morning, you guys." I said into the mic.
"Hayley it is so good to have you here. You've been on the Time's best seller's list for almost 10 weeks now. How exciting is that?"
I smile and look at him head on. "It's fantastic. Also it is such an honor to be here today with you guys. I'm beside myself."
"So glad to have you here." Danielle says, sending me a smile across the table.
"Now can you tell us a little bit about your book?" Elvis asks and I nod.
"As you know the book is called Outlier. It is set in a dystopian future. The goverment has been taken over by a group called Axiom. These people were an inside group of the government. The Axiom start the Axiom Alliance which is a Monarchy or Dictatorship."
Elvis stops me. "There are also vampires and werewolves right?"
I nod. "Right. The Sleepers and the Shifters, but there are also sorcerers called Alters. They are all genetically engineered."
"The end result being what?"Tom asks.
I shoot him a look which makes him curl back in his seat. Serves him right.
"Magic. That is something that we believe only exists in our imagination right?"
I have his attention.
"Well what if science could make that all happen? It was inevitable that science would bring magic into the world."
"So, what happens to your two main characters? Miera and..." Elvis asks.
"Miera and Mikhail. Sounds like you'll have to read the book." I tease. Everyone in the room laughs but Tom.
I catch him out of the corner of my eye and he is staring at me. His eyes are boring into me and I feel naked. His gaze is like fire and I have no water to put it out.
