Elle's POV

"You can do this," I murmured to myself as I walked along the streets of London "You can go on vacation by yourself in a foreign city. You are a big girl, Elle. Quit being a pansy. People do this all the time. Woman up."

Life can be scary when you find yourself in a different country on holiday by yourself for the first time in your 26 years of life. Life can also be scary when you find yourself on a mission of self discovery after dumping your fiance of 4 years. Honestly, life can just be plain scary.

The London skies were cloudy and grey today as a slow drizzle began to fall from the sky. People rushed here and there with their umbrellas in hand paying no attention to the rain. Maybe this was their norm. I was from the sunny beaches of California where rain was a rare occurrence and smog was more common than fresh air.

A guy walking down the sidewalk caught my eye. Well, guy wasn't a good definition. Tall, blonde God was more like it. Adonis would probably be jealous of him. His hair was combed neatly, parted to one side and his long elegant fingers cradled a cup of coffee that looked ridiculously small in his large hand. A stack of papers were in the other hand, held to his chest. He was dressed in a black cardigan with a light black jacket over top. He seemed to be lost in thought as he strode quickly down the sidewalk. Towards me.

I tried to dodge him but wasn't fast enough. He came crashing into me, knocking me on the ground with him on top of me. Papers flowed down like fall leaves and landed around us. The coffee cup now lay in the middle of the street, empty.

"Oh for heaven's sake. Are you alright, miss?" a deep British accent asked me.

I looked at the man hovering over me and into his deep blue eyes, full of sincerity.

"I'm okay. Your papers." I say, nodding to the disaster around us.

He stands and helps me to my feet looking me over for injuries.

"You're sure you're alright?"

"I'm fine," I say smiling at him and brushing the dirt from my palms, "Let me help you."

I bend down and quickly gather the papers around me. I don't mean to read them but I catch a glimpse as I pick them up. It looks to be a script of some sort. For a play? A movie?

"You're far too kind. Please, let me buy you coffee for your trouble. I seem to have lost mine as well." he smiles at me, wrinkles creasing around his eyes in the most charming way. He looks to be in his early 30's but I can tell he has an old soul. I am completely taken with him already.

"It really was no trouble at all. Coffee, however, does sound nice."

The smile on his face seems to widen if that is even possible and he leads me just up the street to a little cafe.

There are maybe ten tables in the whole place and one bored looking teenage girl behind the counter. Her blue hair is pulled back in a pony tail and she is fiddling with a silver ring in her lip. I had never been that adventurous. The look worked for her and I admired her individuality.

The stranger walks me to a table and pulls out a chair. I sit with a smile and he leaves to go to the counter and order. The girl behind the counter smiles as she sees him and he gives her a pat on the shoulder. They must know each other. I can't hear the conversation from here but as he is talking he gestures to me and they both look my way. I nervously smile and wave to them and the girl raises her hand in acknowledgment.
