I stayed silent for a while before glancing up at him and meeting his dark eyes. "Change?" I asked.

He nodded. "You'll be going back to your cell tonight," he stated and my eyes widened. "Don't worry, I've put a bed in there for you."

"What? Why?"

He folded his arms over his chest. "I'm not having you wandering around, whispering in my brothers ear when I'm not around and plotting any type of escape. You're right, you chose to stay and now I'm removing that choice."

My jaw slacked as I stared back up at him. "That's not fair! Why am I being punished for staying?"

He slammed his hands against the wall either side of my hand, caging me in. "Believe me, compared to what the others will experience when I drag them back, I'm letting you off lightly."

"Letting me off for what!" I yelled back at him. "I haven't done anything."

"You knew they were leaving! You didn't stop them or tell me! You let them leave and you're the only one here who can pay for that. I'll reevaluate your situation when your friends have returned."

I shook my head, tears filling my eyes. "And what about the baby."

"I can keep a much closer eye on you when you're in your cell. And when the baby is born, I'll be sure to let them visit you." A smirk crossed his face when I looked up at him, hate flashing in my eyes.

I shook my head, my lip curling. "No," I spat, shoving his chest so I could stand up. "No! I stayed so that I could be with my child, no way will you take them away from me."

"You don't have any say in the matter! I will raise my child however I see fit!" He made a move to step towards me and I punched him in the face. He faltered, shock drenching his features and his hands moving to his bloody nose. I used the opportunity and ran, leaving him bewildered in the bedroom. I snatched the gun from his desk before charging out of the office and towards the doors.

I had hoped that by staying, I would give birth and we would raise our child together. That he would have mercy because of my decision and that everything would work out. But I had been wrong. And all I could think about now was getting to my sister.

As I ran, I heard the dogs behind me and dared to glance down at them before I reached the doors and ripped them open. "Katherine!" I heard Kane yell behind me but I didn't stop, I didn't even falter at the fury in his voice and instead, I ran faster, approaching the forest. "I'll kill you!" He threatened, his voice closer than expected and I turned to see him storming towards me, closing the distance between us.

My eyes were blurred with tears but I lifted the gun I'd stolen and aimed, sending a bullet flying into his stomach. "Not if I kill you first," I spat before taking off again, leaving him as he dropped to the floor, blood pooling around his body.

I didn't look back as I fled through the forest, the dogs still by my side right up until my lungs started to squeeze and my legs burned. Still, I didn't stop, only slowed to a brisk walk, my mind focused on finding my sister and nothing else.

I still didn't stop once the sun had set and I was deep into the forest, stumbling through the darkness. Hours after the sun fell from the sky, I came across a large fire pit in the middle of the trees, a rotting corpse on the ground with an arrow in its back. The very one I'd killed so long ago when we were first taken.

The dogs snarled at the figure and I smirked, knowing he wouldn't be causing us any harm. A cold chill passed over me and I sunk to the ground against a log, reaching for a couple of rocks tossed near the fire and rubbing them together until they sparked. The dogs curled up on the ground beside me, helping to keep me warm while the fire got going and it didn't take long before my exhaustion pulled me into a deep sleep.

I woke up with a shiver and raised my head slowly, taking in my surroundings. The sky was dark and cloudy above me and when I turned to the side, I saw the fire had completely died. Fortunately, I had the warmth from the dogs fur to trap in a little heat but I was eager to start moving and warm up.

My stomach growled as we started to walk again but I ignored it. I could eat when I was back with my sister. The wind seemed to pick up after about an hour of walking and the clouds had darkened but I knew I was close and after another hour or so, I spotted the entrance to the facility.

My tears fell as I got closer, my heart pounding in my chest. I yanked the door open with as much strength as I could muster and ran inside, wobbling down the stairs with the dogs on my heels. "Rose?" I yelled, my voice echoing through the hallways.

"Rose!"

I sprinted to her room, slamming the door open to be met with an empty bedroom. "Hello?" I called as loudly as possible, moving to the next room to find it was also empty. My tears flowed faster when I opened door after door, only to find the place completely deserted. There was so sign that anyone had ever been here.

I sped back to the entrance, scanning the woods for any sign of which way they would have gone. The rain was lashing down now, blending with my tears and my clothes were quickly soaked through.

I was soaked, cold, exhausted and more alone than I'd ever been in my life as I sank to the floor, clinging to the dogs. We had no food, nothing to hunt with, no shelter in the storm and nobody coming to save us. We were alone and the realisation that I wouldn't find my sister or my friends sunk into my stomach.

I was going to die here. Alongside my unborn baby.

I closed my eyes, sobbing myself to sleep until the dogs barking caused me to startle. I opened my eyes, feeling the cold biting into me and peered up to where the growling sounds were coming from. The dogs barked again and I rubbed at my eyes before focusing on them to see a large bear emerging from the trees.

My breath caught in my throat and I backed away, starting to hyperventilate as I cupped my stomach and started to cry all over again. The dogs stood between me and the bear, snarling up at it in warning but it only prowled closer, roaring loudly.

Before I could even blink, it swiped its huge paw towards the dog on the left and sent it flying through the air. It whimpered loudly and I cried harder, moving to run towards it before the bear snarled again and I froze in my place.

Blood poured from where the bears claw slashed through the dogs skin and I couldn't tear my eyes away, fear eating away at me. "Please," I managed to beg through my sniffles.

I winced when the huge creature took another step forward, backing me up until I was trapped between the large figure and a tree. A scream tore from my throat when it's huge arm swung towards me and I closed my eyes, waiting for the agony before a loud boom sounded, followed by a thud and suddenly, cold air brushed against my skin.

I peeked my eye open to see the bulky animal lay at my feet, blood coating it's fur. I hiccuped, relief flooding through me as I turned to the barrel of the gun that was now aimed at me.
