Ian walks away from me, releasing my hand as I try to pull him back.
"Are you going to tell me what's wrong?"
"No, Hannah. I would if I could."
"What do you mean you would if you could? You can and I'm right here listening." He lets out a long sigh. I hate seeing him act like this.
"Hannah you've got to trust me. The less you know the better." I look into his pleading eyes, but they don't work with me this time. I turn around and walk out.
"Call me when you're ready to grow a pair and explain." I hear him say my name, but I continue to walk out of the huge door.
"You're home early." Mom is the only one home.
"Yeah. Ian and I are kind of having a...disagreement."
"Well do you want to talk about it?"
"It's really nothing for you to worry about. His brother, Nik, just came back. Instead of being happy like I thought he would be, he doesn't even want him here. When I asked him about it all he said was the less I know the better."
"What did you say the boys name was?" She asked, completely off topic.
"Nik. Nik Lockwood." She tenses up, a hint of fear in her eyes when I say his name. She sends a small, fake smile my way.
"Is everything okay? You didn't tell me what to do about Ian."
"Oh, yeah. I'm fine. But honey, sometimes things are just personal. You can't expect him to tell you every little detail about his past. Sometimes things are just too embarrassing or too hard to speak of. Maybe him and his brother went through something as kids that affected their relationship. You need to respect his decision and understand that when the time is right, he will tell you what happened."
"Okay mom." I knew she was going to take Ian's side. She runs up to her room.
I let out a long sigh, flopping down on the couch. I pull out my phone and dial Chance's number. He answers on the first ring.
"If it isn't the beautiful Hannah. How are you babe?"
"Hey Chance. Let's go get pizza!"
"Alrighty. I'll be by to get you in ten. See ya."
"Bye." I run to my room and take off the clothes I wore to school. I throw on a pair of black leggings, a red t-shirt, and a jacket. I slip on red vans.
"Mom! Chance and I are going for pizza!" I yell up the stairs.
"Have fun!" She yells back.
Chance pulls up outside in his silver Dodge truck. I slide into the passenger seat.
"How's my number one girl doing today? He sends me a smile.
"I'm okay. I just want to eat and hang out with my best friend." He winks at me.
We pull up to Charlie's pizza fifteen minutes later. After finding a seat, a waitress comes by to ask for our pizza requests.
"Pepperoni, sausage, Mac-n-Cheese, and Tropical Cheesecake." He orders for the both of us.
"Drinks?""Dr. Pepper and Sweet tea."
He knows me so well.
"So what's going on? What are you not telling me?" His eyes always look sincere.
"Its nothing I swear. Ian's older brother, Nik, is in town for a visit and Ian is acting super weird about it. I tried talking to him about it but he won't." I'm sick of having this conversation already.
"Maybe its for the best. Some things you may not want to know. So chill babe." He smiles at me.
"Whatever." The waitress brings our drinks.
"Your pizzas will be ready shortly."
"Thanks." She blushes when Chance smiles at her.
The chimes on the door rattle. Someone else walks into the restaurant. My breath gets caught in my throat. I could feel my face getting red.
"Hannah, what's wrong?" Chance must've seen the look on my face.
I can barely speak. "It's him."
"Who? What are you talking about?"
"Don't look now, but Nik just walked in." And of course Chance turns around right after I said 'don't look now'. He locks eyes with him. Nik sees me and smiles.
"He kind of looks like Ian." My best friend is an idiot.
"Duh Chance. They're brothers."
"Oh yeah." He grins at me. The young waitress puts our pizza down on the table.
"Can I get you anything else?" She doesn't take her eyes off of Chance when she is talking.
"No we're good thanks." One quick flip of his pretty blonde hair and you could already tell that girl was getting weak at the knees.
I eat my pizza slowly, never taking my eyes off of Nik.
"I'm sorry but I have to." I get out of my seat and start walking towards Nik. Chance tries to pull my arm but I wiggle out of his grip.
I sit in the chair across from Nik.
"Well hello beautiful." He smirks at me the same way Ian does. "What brings you to the dark side?"
I get straight to the point. "Why won't Ian talk to me about you?"
He looks at me, amused. "I think we both know why Ian is upset that I'm here."
"Actually I don't."
He leans over the table, closer to me. "It's because of his little secret darling. He's not the only one."
"Secret? What secret?" A look of shock spreads over his face.
"You've been with him all this time and he hasn't told you his secret?"
"No... What is it?"
"Oh love, I can't tell you. But he can. Let's go." He grabs my hand and leads me to the door.
"I'll get her home Chance!" He yells back. With a quick movement, I'm in the passenger seat of his Phantom.
"Nice car." I admire the interior.
"Thanks love."
We pull up to Ian's home. Instead of knocking like I normally do, he barges in, dragging me along with him.
"Ian. Come here. Now." Ian trudges down the steps, rubbing his temples.
"What are you doing with her!?" He pushes me onto the couch and lunges for Nik. His hands wrap around his neck. With a swift movement, they are both on the ground, a leg of the wooden dining room table in Nik's hand, Ian on the bottom.
"Nik stop!" I scream. Nik stands up, lifting Ian up with him.
"Now somebody tell me what the hell is going on here."
Ian stare at Nik. Nik smirks.
"Your perfect little boyfriend here is a vampire. So am I."
"No." A soft whisper escapes Ian's lips.
I look at them both dumbfounded. "What?" Why isn't Ian denying what he said?
"Hannah." Ian tries to grab my hand. I run from him. Out the door, down the road. I don't know where I'm going but I'm getting the hell out of here.
