Knock Knock. I hear a tap at my door. I groan before rubbing my eyes and turn to look at my bedside clock. 7:03.
"Come in!" Ew. Morning breath.
Dad pokes his head in my door. "Hey, sweetheart. You awake?"
"Dad. It's your daughter. Do you think I'm awake at 7:00 Am?"
"Oh, just give it a couple days. You're gonna wake up at the crack of dawn every day once all of your alpha genes kick in." He chuckles. I groan loudly and pull the covers over my face.
"Okay, okay. I really did come in here for a reason."
"Enlighten me, oh dear father." Strong sarcasm laces my words.
"I just wanted to know if you want to go to the pack today. Spend some time with them."
I think about getting to see Cam and Max. "Yeah. Be ready in 20." He shuts my door.
I run to the bathroom and quickly shower. I then run back to my room to dry off. I look for clothes. I settle on black Nike pro leggings, a green tank top, and tennis shoes. If I'm gonna be around guys all day, I might as well be comfortable.
I hear dad grab his keys from all the way upstairs. On my way out the door, I smell copper. I hear a small woosh of wind, then put my hand up. I knew what it was. Dad had thrown the keys at the back of my head, and I caught them.
"Nice reflex alpha." He smiles at me.

Dad unlocks the doors as we pull into my grandfather's garage. I hop out quickly.
"Hey, Hannah." Jake smiles and greets me as I am on my way in the door. He continues flipping meat on the grill.
"Hey, Jake." I open the security door to the house and step in. The boys are actually a lot more organized than I thought.
Several of them are seated around the dining room table, a few are eating at the island in the kitchen.
Another bunch of them are sitting on the couches or on the floor, playing and waiting on their turn for the playstation.
I look out the back screen doors to see Cameron, Max, Matthew, Tyler, and Anthony outside with a football. I head their way.
They all look my way when the door slides. "Hannah!'' Cam smiles widely.
"Hi, Cameron." He picks me up in a bear hug and spins me around.
"You better watch it Cameron. Whenever Hannah mates, that guy's gonna be on you like white on rice." Tyler speaks.
I watch Cam get red in the face with embarrasment. I hold back a chuckle. "It's okay, Cam. Ignore Tyler." I scruff his hair in the back and he smiles at me apologetically.
Awoooo. A loud warning yelp comes from the front of the house. My instincts instantly pick it up as a warning of intruders. I sprint around the house, the guys right behind me. We all meet up in a clump on the front porch.
"Jake. Speak." My grandfather speaks in his alpha voice.
"It's the Fang Clan, alpha. I smell their leader, Maximus." He scrunches his nose in disgust. I sniff the air and sure enough, I pick up an unfamiliar scent. It's beautiful. It smells like honey, vanilla, lavender, cocunt. A bunch of different beautiful scents all wrapped up into one. Why would Jake be disgusted?
"Formation. Stand guard." Hearing these words, I instantly perk up. I guess my leader blood took easily to defense and other wolf talk. All of the pack turns, except for John, Cameron, and I.
"Should I turn alpha?" Cameron asks.
"No. I can smell Maximus and his beta, Khol, in human form."
I instinctively take my place in front of the pack. Grandpa John stands slightly in front of me, Cam slightly behind.
A large pack of wolves run, stopping right before they were 100 yards before us. Three muscular men emerge. They walk towards us.
"Maximus. To what do I owe the pleasure?" Grandpa and Maximus nod their heads towards each other in respect.
"I just came to inform you about a pack of rogues we found lurking on our territory last night. We thought you should know, just to be on the lookout." Maximus speaks with a deep, strict voice. At the same time it is gentle, soothing.
I watch as Cameron and Kohl nod their heads towards each other, confirming that no violence is necessary.
"Thank you, Maximus. We appreciate your warning and will be on lookout." Maximus slightly nods.
"While you're here, I'd like you to meet the new alpha. This is my granddaughter, Hannah." Grandpa John reaches his hand out towards me.
Maximus and Kohl turn their heads, ready to show respect when it happens. Maximus looks me in the eye and I see red, then pink, blue, orange, green. I feel a woosh of air hit my chest and I fall.
I see grandpa and Cameron standing over me. Then Kohl and Maximus are there too. Maximus whisperes something to grandpa that I can't hear. Before I know it, Maximus puts his strong hands underneath my body and sets me on my feet. I stumble a bit, falling on his chest. He chuckles.
"Are you okay?" He asks me, starting intently into my eyes.
"What just happened?" I know what happened. I'm just too afraid to admit it.
"Beautiful Hannah, I've found my mate."
The last thing I see is Maximus's beautiful face. The rest from there is black.
