Innocent Soul

Chapter 1

Odakai carrys a load full of water in a bucket from the river to my home. She needed it so she can make food for the family as one of my everyday chore. Odakai rested the bucket on the front of the door step as she went into the kitchen to turn the fire on for the pot.

Simul just came from a walk outside, which she sometimes did on normal days. Just as Irai came outside as they were ready to go to school.

"I dont recall us taking a bath this morning yet." Irai said. Simul quickly ignored what her sister said and just sucked her teeth. "I dont think anyone would notice...it doesnt matter anyways!" She said.

"Yeah but the professor always checks our feet ." Irai quickly stated." So lets help ourselves and use the bucket of water just to wash our feet.

"Smart girl." Simul pointed out.

The two sisters quickly pours the bucket of water on their toes just as Odaikai comes back outside.

"Hey!" Odakai is furious. "Stop it!...Stop!". "Dont you know im using the water thats in this pot?!"

"And so?!" Irai snapped.

"Why dont you take your feet washing elsewhere instead of doing it here?" Questioned Odakai.

Simul started cleaning up the water mess and put the bucket back in its place. Irai then shouted at Odakai "And who is she to tell us what to do!?!...If mother was here she'd say it!".

"If mother were here she wouldnt tolerate that!" Odakai corrected.

"I washed my legs here and there is nothing you could do about that!". Irai snapped. "NOTHING!!" Irai continued to wash her toes with the water that was in the bucket.

"The water you are wasting to wash your toes is enough for three people to take a bath in!" Continued Odakai.

Irai lifted her head in shock. "And I think you've said enough so shut yo mouth!" She once again snapped. Irai was now furious.

"Irai listen to me" Odakai was obviously insulted. "I am not yo maid I am older than you!". Simul began to worry of what this argument might lead to.

"Look I am also the one who goes up the hill to find water every morning! You have no idea what it feels like to go up that hill just to find water!" Odakai got into her feelings.

"Fine...but that is yo problem not mine!" Irai said selfishly. "It is yo job!"

"Ok Irai we wasted to much water now and we are already going to be late!". Simul told her sister. Hoping that they would stop arguing. "Be good please...lets go."

Irai followed after her sister. But right before she left, she looked up and down at Odakai and sucked her teeth at her.

After Irai made her last insult Odakai said under her breath "I dont blame you." she said coldly. "Its your mother I blame.

And with that Odakai quickly went back into the kitchen leaving the rest of the bucket water outside.

Then suddenly Irai sneaks back without Odakai knowing that shes there.

Irai first checks to make sure Odakai isnt looking. She then finds a big rock then smashes the rock onto the bucket that held the water.

"Ah! My daughter... you look absolutely graciously beautiful." King Dallo said. "Thank you!" Princess Choma thanked.

"And-uh! She lives in America... what do you expect?!" Queen Anne stated proudly.

"Mother it doesnt have anything to do with being in America." Princess Choma said playfully, and with that king Dallo chuckeled loudly. "I think its just enjoying the fame in my own village.

"Ohh thats my daughter!" The king said proudly.

"Now my dear...now that you are back." King Dallao grabs his daughters attention. "Have you ever thought about what you are going to do next?"

Princess Choma sighs "Well... after all my studies in America, I think I'd like to rest for some time... besides theres no quieter place to study than the village its so peaceful!"

"What about marriage?" Queen Anne quickly askes. "Moommmy!" Princess Choma whines. "Just dont start."

"Well as a matter of fact." King Dallo starts to say. "You're mother and I have decided to leave you a graduation party for you and you and your friends next week.

Princess Choma is so excited she's smiling all the way to her ears.

"And its mamas birthday next week...I think we should do two parties in one." Princess Choma pointed out.

"That is an excellent idea." Kind Dallo agreed.
