"Are you almost here dude?"
Shayne looked around impatiently at his apartment steadily filling with guests. The idea of having so many people in his space and having to socialize was not exactly doing good things for his anxiety. But if he had to endure all that socializing, at least a surprise birthday party for Damien was a worthy occasion.
"Relax," Saige replied cooly into her cars Bluetooth speaker, "We are basically there, just need to park".
Shayne raised his eyebrows, we? Did his sister bring a date?
"Yeah and the cake is safe and sound on my lap" a voice unfamiliar to Shayne chimes in. Oh wait, Saige was bringing her new roommate duh. He must have forgotten with all the chaos from party planning.
"Saige..." Shayne sighs exasperated. "Damien is going to be here any minute."
"Well duh Shayne, his trip is shorter than ours, he lives in the same apartment complex as you now." Shayne can feel her sass through his phone's speaker. He chose to ignore it.
"Just hurry please, and thank you guys again for picking up the cake."
Saige giggles, "No worries we are on our way up now, see you in a sec." With that Saige ends the call and heads towards the stairs to Shayne's floor with Courtney holding the cake box in tow.

Saige and Courtney were out of breath after double timing it up the stairs so they stop to take a quick breather in front of Shayne's apartment door before entering.
"You excited to attend a surprise party for someone you've never met," Saige asks Courtney in a lighthearted tone. Courtney giggles.
"Hey you never know, maybe we'll become the best of friends tonight," They say with a smirk.
"A surprise party, eh?"
Saige and Courtney whip their heads around to see Damien has found his way in front of Shayne's door as well.
" Well shit Damien you ruined the whole thing, you better act surprised still."
Saige's face is stern but there is a lightness behind her eyes that betrays her and she breaks into a big smile.
"Missed you too buddy," Damien chuckles as him and Saige greet each other with a quick embrace. Damien turns towards Courtney.
"Nice to meet you also..." Damien trails off for a moment prompting her.
"I'm Saige's roommate, Courtney. I use she/they pronouns also."
"Oh cool thanks for letting me know, I am Damien, and I use he/him pronouns. Do you know anyone here besides Saige? Or did she just drag you into a random celebration of people you don't know?"
"I am also friends with Shelby but she is out of town this weekend. I think you guys know my older sister Kari though."
"Oh my goodness no wonder you look so familiar, you're Courtney MILLER. Obviously that makes so much senses now."
Damien shakes his head with the realization. Although not identical, Kari and Courtney are the kind of siblings that really, really do look related.
"So are you going to keep everyone waiting on top of ruining your own surprise?"
Saige asks with her arms crossed and foot tapping with fake impatience.
"Well I didn't know if you wanted to walk in together or not since I was supposed to 'act surprised' still."
Damien replies with a genuine curiosity. Saige rolls her eyes and grabs Damien and Courtney by the arms.
"We're here now, let's just commit," Saige answers with a shrug. Then she pauses and very loudly says.
"Oh WOW, Damien what a coincidence we are both here at Shayne's apartment at the same time, how RANDOM."
Damien smirks.
"Wow, you are so right Saige, this is SO RANDOM."
Saige lightly nudges him with her elbow and whispers, "nice one". With that they cross the threshold and enter Shayne's apartment.
