After finishing readying the ballroom few hours later, Emma found herself standing in front of her full body mirror back in her bedroom. She fidgeted in the glass. Emma had never been one for dresses. She could tolerate the simple ones she wore during the day, and could bare the fancier ones she wore to dinner when guests were over, but was it really necessary she wear this?

It was the skirt. Emma looked like a cupcake with extra blue and silver frosting! The baby blue bodice fit her snugly and accented her curves with silver floral stitching across the top with little tole sleeves, that part of the dress wasn't so bad, but the skirt... How could her mother walk in these?!

The dress flared out at her waist with about a million layers of silk and tole and lace until the fabric shifted and made 'shh' noises with even the tiniest movements. Not that Emma planned on moving very much tonight. It was torture just standing in her room, forget dancing. And her big entrance down the stairs to the thrones in the ballroom? Not on Emma's watch.

Emma had just about made up her mind to yank the silver pins from the golden bun on the back of her head and stay in with a book tonight when her mother opened the door.

"Emma, are you almost-" Snow White's words died on her lips when she saw her daughter. "Oh, Emma... You look beautiful, baby, the fairest in the land."

Emma let out a nervous laugh as she twitched at her dress. "Mom, that's you." she reminded her mother.

"Maybe once, but not compared to you tonight!" Snow said with a watery smile as she walked over to her daughter, grabbing her hands.

"I love you so much Emma. You're the most wonderful daughter a mother could dream for. Happy birthday."

" I love you too mom. Thank you."

Snow smiled and tucked an errant strand of golden hair behind Emma's ear.

"Are you ready?" Snow asked.

"No." Emma answered truthfully with a nervous tremor to her hands.

"Neither was I." Snow grinned and Emma smiled weakly back. "Just place one foot in front of the other, hold onto my arm, and get to your throne." the raven haired princess advised. As the two women walked to the door.

"And after that?" Emma asked as they stepped into the hallway.

"How about we cross that bridge when we get there." Snow said.

And cross it Emma would.

Killian Jones was excited about something for the first time in months as he steered his ship into the harbor of The Charming's kingdom.

He had finally found something that would allow him to kill the Crocodile, for good. Squid ink. A mermaid in Neverland had told Killian about it and it's magical properties. How it could trap the Dark One powerless for just long enough that Killian could finish him off without the Dark One being able to fight back.

The only problem was, it was expensive. The kind of expensive that even three chests of gold couldn't buy. Killian had gone into a rage when the pirate who had possession of the ink, Blackbeard, had demanded such a high price, even if Killian hadn't exactly been surprised by the demand. None the less, Captain Hook had been furious, not knowing how he would ever be in possession of enough gold to get the ink. Killian had not come this far only to be held back by the price of something.

Until one night a few weeks ago when he had stopped at a seaside village for the night and he had heard talk of a grand ball that would be taking place in a nearby kingdom in two weeks.

After asking around, Hook discovered the ball was for the princess of that land, and that that land was rich. With the help of his first mate Smee, Hook came up with a plan that would solve every problem he had with the squid ink.

And that was why the pirate captain was grinning from ear to ear with a slightly crazed light in his blue eyes as he docked his ship at the Charming's port.

Yay Killian POV! I hope I did our pirate justice :). I'm not very good with male POV's so any help with that would be lifesaving for the future! Comment, like, follow, etcetera. Emma and Hook will meet next chapter :D
