Part 10: Back To Work

Barry's POV

As I take a deep breath I walk into the precinct. All of a sudden I am tackled in a hug and realize it is one of my best friends from here, Ellie. I hug her back just as excited after not seeing her in 6 months. She pulls back. "Oh how much I have missed you dumbass." She says. "I missed you to Els." I say. As I say hello to everyone I am so thankful today is still Joe's day off. He gets every Friday off. She has forensic knowledge so she always would help me out in the lab when things became to much. "Where did you go for so long!" She exclaims. "Everything in life became to much better and after Henry died I just lost it. And the team at Star Labs betrayed me so I left. I couldn't take it anymore. I quiet everything and let my dads take back over the companies for awhile. I finally decided to take some time for me. It got to the point that I couldn't even pull myself up out of bed." I say. "Well I am glad you are getting better. So what brings you here?" She asks. "To see you and then I also have decided that while I am not in a steady enough mental state to do everything else yet I am going to try and still use my privileges as his only and favorite godson to try and win my job back. If anything I know how to get down and dirty with him. I am Sebastian Smythe after all and I do know how to play dirty. Where is the big boss at now anyways." I say. "Uh he went out to check out a crime scene with one of the understudies who was here. He called me growling saying he wished you were still here and asked if I could try and bargain with you to see if I could get you to come back but I don't think I need to." She says. Singh walks in at the perfect timing. "Uncle David!" I say grinning. He freezes. "You only call me that here when you want something or you did something. What did you do or what do you want?" he says. "Rude. But I do need to talk to you." I say following him into his office and setting down at his desk. "So is my job position still open?" I say after he shuts the door and sets down. "Yes because you were a catch. I still have yet to find anyone like you yet." He says. "Can I have my job back?" I ask. "Tell my why you quit in the first place." He says. "So this may make my job steadier if you know this. I am the flash. All of those times I had to bolt out of work were because of something happening. But last year after facing Zoom the team locked me in the pipeline after watching Henry be killed. they forgot me for 29 hours. They nearly killed me. For one, a speedster has to have an intake of roughly 100,000 calories a day when using their speed on a daily basis and I had ate nothing that day. For two, I was dehydrated and they gave me nothing to drink. For three, if you haven't seen from mine and Len- I mean Captain Cold's battles that the cold can deem me useless when it comes to speed and just in general because what would be a normal temperature or low temperature to everyone else would be considered deadly low to me. My temperature runs about 130.7 to the highest I have went normally was 142.5. Which would be deadly to most people. But they turned the temperature down in my cell and nearly killed me. And I snapped. My mental health was just to pieces in general and that was my breaking point because I mean, these were the people who I trusted my life with every goddamn day and they just heartlessly threw me into a cell and nearly killed me. I had been threatening to kill Zoom. Who wouldn't be if they were in my position. Now if I had gotten my hands on Zoom that night than I probably would have killed him. But what I needed and it would have kept me from killing him as well, was their support and love to lean onto while I was shattered. Cisco didn't know and they have torn him to pieces with guilt and they have caused his anxiety to flux. Caitlin was forced into it and didn't want to at all. She was the only other with main access to it to actually lock me in there. So I left because I needed time to heal and get better. And I am getting better. I am not fully there but I am getting so close. And losing Hunter and Lizzy killed me inside but it is time to let go and heal. I can never forget them. But they wouldn't want this. They wouldn't want me hung up on them. They would want me to move on. And while it is a slow and painful process I am trying." I explain. I feel an arm around my shoulders. "Are you sure you are up to this?" He says. "Yeah I am." I say. He walks over and grabs a bucket from under his desk that has the gun they issued me, my badge, my id's, my keys into the lab, and my keys into his office. "Welcome back Allen. You start Monday. You better be here on time ass or I will go to your fathers." He says grinning. I grin. I walk out into the bullpen and grab Els and turn her around quickly to spook her. "I got my goddamn job back and you don't have to deal with the dumbass interns all day long anymore!" I yell. She jumps like she was shot and she slaps me out of reflex causing me to start cackling. "Oh my god you scared me! I thought you were someone trying to attack me dumbass!" She yells. After everyone has their laughs including the Captain she drags me upstairs to the lab that is so goddamn messy. "Uh uh. What the hell did you do?!" I exclaim in horror. Singh walks up here having heard me yell and is laughing. "Tell me you didn't mess with the files...." I say. I walk over and see all of they are all out of order. "I am going to kill you Elinore Grace Styles!" I yell. "have fun organizing this mess." Singh says walking out. She runs out almost knocking him over. I run after her and fall down the stairs and look up from where I am laying on the ground to see Lenny looking down at me. I forgot I told him to come pick me up at 4. "And this is why I can't trust you alone babe." He says heaving me up. I grin and start chasing Ellie around. She runs and hides behind Lenny. "Oh that is dirty Styles! You know I wouldn't bother him to get to you!" I yell. "Oh oh oh! You brought the Smythe back out in him Styles!" Singh yells. I smirk. "Come at me Styles! You won't!" I yell. She grins. "Oh you are on Smythe!" She yells. As she goes to run at me I dodge the punch and grab her and shove her to the ground playfully and playfully set on her and pun her wrists above her head. "Now tell me. how in the-" I say before I hear Singh call out to Len to see if he can get me. He goes for it and before he knows it I take my free hand and pull him to the ground and use my leg and place my foot on somewhere it will hurt like hell if I step and place my free hand on his chest. He is cackling. "Now Styles. How did you manage that much damage to my precious lab in 6 months." I say. "I got busy and never cleaned it when it became a mess one day and never brought myself to and it just kept getting worse and worse!" She yells laughing. I stand up and let them both up. "I didn't know you could pin two people Allen." Els big brother, Laker, says. I snort. "Now dear family. I have to head out because he is dragging me somewhere." I say. Els hugs me. "Wait so you are literally in love with a criminal." Eddie says. I nod grinning. Lenny pulls me out of the building and all of a sudden I bump into someone.
