Chapter 13 - Own Choices

In Canada...

Awa painfully opened her eyes coming out of this unconsciousness where she had fallen. Despite the fact that her headaches and visions of chaos had ceased to torment her, she still did not feel in full possession of her strength.

Looking around vaguely, she noticed that she was lying on a bed, in a bedroom she recognized as Emily's. A brief memory came back to Awa in this room, when she had appeared to Emily in the mirror to scare her, to test her and see if she would be worthy of being Mr. Lordi's chosen one.

_ "Awa ..."

Turning her head, she saw the cyborg Magnum, standing by the bed and looking at her with his neutral gaze.

_ "Magnum? How long did I stayed unconscious?" she asked, rubbing her head and sitting up in bed a little.

_"Three hours." he replied in his cybernetic voice. "I managed to stabilize you, but you should keep resting. This thing, whatever it is, took a lot of your strength."

Awa understood and trusted Magnum. She then noticed Ox, in a corner of the room, sitting and leaning against a wall and appearing asleep.

_ "Ox was very worried about you and stayed to watch over you the whole time, but the recent fights and all the beatings he suffered made him very tired and he fell asleep in the end." Magnum explained.

Awa smiles and blushes softly as she looks at Ox. Magnum decided to leave her alone and left the room, closing the door behind him. Awa decided to get up from the bed, having enough strength to be able to walk and walked over to Ox. She looked at him for a few moments, finding him rather adorable when he was asleep and snoring loudly.

The pain of the betrayal of her ancient love, John Heart, was still too present in her heart despite the years she felt, not yet quite ready to return to another's arms. Although she had to admit that she was very touched by Ox's attention and words to her, and admitted that she, too, had felt a little something for him ... She who had once said that she could never find love again ... But after all, maybe she was wrong?

Tenderly, she came to put a kiss on the minotaur's forehead, but was careful not to wake him, wanting to let him rest, he deserved it.

_ "Thank you, my noble hero ..." she said softly with a smile.

Meanwhile, in the living room of the house, Amen and Kita had stayed to continuously follow the information broadcast on television, and continuing to show the immeasurable madness that was gradually beginning to take hold of the world. Other prisms, three others in total, had appeared in Japan, Africa and Australia, and always near densely populated areas. A polar climate seemed to fall everywhere and spread around the prisms, as did the terrifying decrease in light, whether natural or artificial. The number of fatalities had increased further, and it would not stop there.

_ "I wonder ... if the same thing is currently happening in our world, in Lapland?" Amen said thoughtfully.

_ "I don't know, but if it does, I really hope Kalma, Enary and G-Stealer made it out. We still haven't heard from them and that really worries me." Kita replied.

Amen understood his friend's concerns, nodding softly.

Meanwhile, Emily's parents, since a while ago had stayed in their room, sitting on the big bed and appearing the most worried. The mother had shed tears, and her husband was comforting her, patting her hand. They then saw the vampire Countess Awa, who thanks to her mind had sensed their deep anxiety and distress, had decided to come see them, entering the room through the door as if there was nothing there.

_ "Listen, we appreciate your staying here and keeping us safe, but you don't have to come into our privacy." Emily's father then told her, showing offuscation at what he saw as an intrusion.
