Barry Allen dragged his feet back home from the workspace and had entered his shared apartment with difficulty. To say he was exhausted would have been an understatement; with him being The Flash and a forensic scientist, sometimes he wonders how he's able to manage it all.

Barry paused as he closed the door being him; it was dark within the flat. He won't be concerned about this, but knowing that his flatmate, (Y/N) (L/N), would usually have the lights on and seeing that that isn't the case right now did raise a few red flags.

"Y/N?" He called out in the dark, as he moved further into the flat. He didn't receive a response.

Barry was now on edge, (Y/N) should home by now, why is the place eerily silent? The sound of a crash caught Barry's attention as he entered the main room of the flat. He was careful to make his presence not known, as he stealthed towards the sound.

He heard the sound of a person cursing, but before he could confront them, he was stunned still by the bright lights that filled the room.

As his eyes adjusted to the light, he saw (Y/N) standing in front of him with one hand on the light switch, and their other hand holding pieces of a broken plate; their expression resembling that of a deer caught in headlights.

"Barry!?" They exclaimed, in a high pitch. They looked around the place frantically and seemed to curl into themselves, "ah... you weren't supposed to come till way later..."

Barry looked around the room for the first time, he saw the kitchen counter and noticed that it was filled with different kinds of homemade dishes of various types, "What's all this?"

"So, uh, you always came back home exhausted. So I thought I would, like, surprise you?" It came out as a question than anything. They smiled at him sheepishly and looked at all dishes on the counter, "Is this too much? If it is, I'm sure I can find something to do with all this."

Barry stared aghast, he looked over the counter once more and thought about how long it must have taken them to prepare all this.

He looked back at his friend and noticed have been staring at him anxiously, waiting for a reply, "No, this is alright. It is very kind of you. Thank you."

Barry could see relief washed over (Y/N) as they let out a sigh and smiled back, "Oh thank goodness you've said that. I actually won't have known what to do with all this, and I did work hard on it so it would have been a waste."

Barry chuckled at their response and Y/n joined in. He look at them, as the warmest filled his chest. He looked over everything again, and back to his friend, "Really. Thank you for all this."

"Don't you mention it. You deserve a kind gift every once in a while."
