We had arrived at Shell Manor a few hours before dinner luckily enough fur us. Our bags which had gone via carriage had arrived a few hours before us so all of our belongings were already unpacked. Shell manor was by the sea a beautiful country house that Devikas father had built for his wife. His wife, the duchess, had always loved the sea and had a deep love for shells that the duke decided to build a manor for her and named it after shells. They came here a lot. Devika's father and mother were in love; madly in love.
My parents had been the same a long time ago but when my mom had begun her illicit affairs with my father's stable hand and the relationship had drastically changed.
We had finished dinner and were sitting in the drawing-room. My dad and Devikas dad were playing a game of chess and Devikas mom had gone to get a chocolate cake she had baked for us. The duchess really put her left elbow into whatever she was baking.
" Here girls, is my famous chocolate cake. Devika, my love, do not eat all of it," The duchess said
" Kairi, my love, thank you," The duke said grabbing a piece of cake
" No do not touch that," The duchess said slapping his hand away," It's not meant for you it is meant for the girls, you have had enough chocolate cake today"
" You heard the lady no chocolate cake for you," My dad said stuffing a piece of cake into his mouth
" No for you as well," The duchess said snatching away his second piece
I, Devika, and Haizea laughed at their antics. You could tell that they had been friends for a long time.
We had only a quarter of the cake left before a royal steward came into the room with a letter from the king.
" My love, what is it?" The duchess asked
The duke's face looked grave. He did not reply so my dad snatched it out of his hand and read it. His face changed.
" The king has declared war," The duke said
" Declared war against who?" The duchess said getting up
" Against who Ragnar? AGAINST WHO RAGNAR? " The duchess shouted standing up
" Mom it's ok, calm down," Devika said consoling her mother
" Dad," I said looking at him but he couldn't hold my gaze
" He has declared war against the Ikari clan," My dad said
My blood ran cold hearing that. The Ikari clan had been waging war around the world. Our kingdom was originally made of 7 different clans in one. Some of them were islands. The 7 different clans were Dynami, Agriada, Eftychia, Reichtum, Szeretet, Shiawase and Fiore. All these lands had another name to them and were ruled over by Dukes who answered to the King.
They had their own class system. So as in Fiore which is known as Himmel by its people was ruled over by Gael's father and had different lands that made up Fiore or Himmel. It was mostly known for its flowers, sun, and how clear the stars looked at night. Unfortunately for the Cavanaugh's, their land was taken over first. Eftychia or Okyanus was a beautiful island that was ruled over by Devika's father, Uncle Ragnar. It was mostly known for its beaches. Agriada or Coedwig was ruled over by Haizeas dad. It was mostly known for its rainforests and exotic animals. The people of Coedwig were very adamant to protect their wildlife. Then there was Dynami or Aberatsa which was ruled over by my father. Ours was known for its gold, silver, diamonds, and other expensive items.
" RAGNAR IS THIS TRUE!?" the duchess said
" I'm sorry my dear," The dukes said
" Devika go and tell the ladies to pack your belongings we shall we leave tomorrow early in the morning for Okyanus," The duchess said
" No, I am will go you and the girls will go to Ivory Castle. If we are going to go to war I can not afford to lose you or Devika. Akira will meet you guys there. Regulus and Kai will decide whether they want to go to war with me or not. Katara will probably want to go to war but this is a war and not a small battle so she will come with you. I know you girls don't need any protection, you all know how to fight and we shall win the war. " He said standing up and leaving the room
" Dad," I said
" You will go as well, Desiree. Avyanna will also be there. Seth will go to war with me. Osiris will protect you. Toph will also be there," My dad said following Uncle Ragnar
His word was final and I knew he was serious about this. The drums of war had started beating and something had told me that we were fucked. That the table was turning again. The Ikari clan was aggressive and did everything with no mercy. Like Osiris would always say " You may not be interested in war but war was interested in you"
