The early morning lethargy seemed to be hammering everyone that morning in the small lecture hall as Zaid, as a Chief resident, gave a briefing.

A selected group of both internal medicine, and surgical residents were asked to attend a mini briefing that morning for a sort of collaboration. Ethan and Harper, as the head of their respective departnents, were standing at Zaid's side as well, as the leading attendings for that day.

"We are doing this because Chief Banerji suggests that we brush up on our patient sensitivity skills..." Zaid started, looking pointedly at all the residents. "...And it just so happens that this morning was a very good time. Besides, half of you here were raised by wolves."

The residents snickered at Zaid's classic roasting, as they chowed down on their quick breakfast and drank their coffees. Zaid turned to the whiteboard behind him this time, writing down in bold letters, 'REACTION'.

He said the word aloud as he turned over a page of his notes. "Keep your face impassive whether prompted by a patient's appearance or lab results. Facial expressions like surprise, concern, disgust, etc, can be counter productive." Zaid read out aloud.

Blue looked around as she sipped on her coffee, watching as some studious residents vigorously took down notes of what Zaid was saying. She could not help but wonder why, as patient sensitivity was a given and only requires common sense.

"Jokes." Zaid continued. "Don't make jokes about patients. Not in front of them, not even in private."

Jackie raised her hand.

"Varma." Zaid permitted.

"What if the joke is really funny?" Jackie asked, making the residents laugh.
