I just realized how bad the previous chapter was *hides in a corner*
But, I usually suck at stories in the beginning so hopefully it'll get better haha

"This is going to be cold," Dr. Foley warned, putting weird gel on Ashton's bare stomach. He shivered at the cold feeling regardless of the warning, now understanding why people reacted to it like they did.

Luke watched on, holding in all of the jokes he could be making about his friend's current state. He knew it would be wrong to make fun of the poor boy, being that he's been through so much in the past few weeks.

Speaking of that, Ashton's pride had taken way too many hits in the span of this terrifying doctors appointment, but he couldn't do this alone, no matter how embarrassing it was. Luke was being nice about everything, watching Dr. Foley intently as she slowly moved the wand around on Ashton's stomach (which, much to the boy's embarrassment, was less defined). It was kind of weird, really; weren't ultrasounds usually just for pregnancies? Luke shook his head. You learn something new everyday, he guessed.

Suddenly, the doctor stopped moving the wand around, making Ashton visibly nervous. She stared closer to the screen, disbelief written all over her face. "I--well, my suspicions were correct." Ashton stared up at her with wide-eyes.

"And?"

"And, it's not exactly life-threatening," Dr. Foley began, obviously dancing around the subject, but making both Luke and Ashton sigh in relief nonetheless. She caught their attention again by pointing a finger at the screen,

"See that small dot?" The two boys squinted and leaned forward, Ashton feeling nervous again. A dot, whatever it was, didn't sound too good.

Dr. Foley pushed up her glasses, eyes landing on Ashton. "Have you had sex within these past few weeks?" The question caught both boys off guard. Ashton's cheeks immediately turned bright red as he quickly turned his head nervously to look at Luke. Luke looked just as embarrassed, being that they obviously weren't too drunk to forget that night, indicating the answer to that question to Dr. Foley; but, Ashton managed to choke out a shaky, "yes."

Still keeping the wand on the same area of Ashton's stomach, the doctor began to slowly explain things first. "I know that you might think this is impossible, but it's not. There's been people like you before, all around the world. It's just...very rare." Ashton felt his heart pounding, anticipation building up inside him as he waited for Dr. Foley to tell him what was wrong with him. "Ashton...please believe me when I say this--and if you don't believe me, which you probably won't, then I will explain it all to you--" she paused, thinking of the gentlest way to say what she had to say without causing the poor boy to freak out; there was honestly no way to avoid that, however. "You're...pregnant."

Silence. Ashton didn't even look over at Luke, who suddenly forgot how to blink, he was in such shock.

Suddenly, Ashton began to grin, and then a nervous laugh slipped past his lips. Luke found himself chuckling as well; this must be a doctor's way of pulling a prank or trying to scare their patients, right? "You're--you're joking. This has to be a joke," Ashton began, his smile wavering as he spoke.

Dr. Foley bit her lip, "I'm being serious, Ashton. Just think about it: the throwing up, the tiredness, the weight gain--it all adds up. Men have been able to conceive as well as you can--"

"But, I'm a guy!" Ashton squeaked, his face impossibly red as his eyebrows knit together in frustration and confusion. He still couldn't believe it, and Luke couldn't even form coherent thoughts at that moment.

"That doesn't mean anything, Ashton. Some guys are born with, erm, female parts as well as male." She explained calmly, turning off the ultrasound machine and wiping the gel off of Ashton's stomach. The boy immediately pulled his shirt down, avoiding his friend's eyes. He didn't even want to know what was going through Luke's mind.
