No pov
The team was piled into the Totally-Legit-White-Van, riding through town. So far they had come across no leads. Right this second, they were stopped for gas. Grayson and Ghost sat in the back, Grayson wore a pair of sunglasses so that any passersby wouldn't see his eyes and mistake him for Casket.
Ghost looked over to the young man.
"Why did you pick him?"Grayson seemed startled by the comment. He looked over to Ghost with an unreadable expression.
"I dunno. I guess, in part because I thought I was dreaming, that it wouldn't matter.""But even in a dream..."
Grayson shrugged.
"I like feeling in control. I thought maybe this would give me that, guess I was wrong."
He laughed a little. Before Ghost could reply, Toast and Elizabeth both got back into the van. Elizabeth turned back to them as Toast started the vehicle.
"Okay, so bad news, there's a police roadblock down the road. They're looking for whoever did all that shit last night. I might not know a lot about this place, but I'm assuming that's a bad thing."Ghost nodded.
"The cops here are kinda shoot first ask questions later."Grayson laughed, a hollowed, high sound like Jimmy.
"Sounds like home. We're gonna need a distraction, they won't let Ghost past without suspicion, and I don't exactly look innocent either."Toast nodded.
"Anyone have any ideas?"Grayson smiled and took off his sunglasses.
"Someone give me a gun."Elizabeth looked at him like he'd lost his mind.
"What're you planning?"Grayson shook his head.
"Just give me the gun and let me out here, then go to the roadblock and wait for my signal."Before anyone could ask what the signal was, Grayson took Ghost's gun and jumped from the still moving van.
Elizabeth poked her head out the window, but he was already running off.
"We can't seriously let him do this?"Toast shrugged.
"We've had worse plans."
He pulled carefully into the police designated roadblock and cut off the engine.
"Afternoon Officer Maloney."The police officer in question didn't return the smile.
"Johnny," he nodded to Ghost in the backseat, "and Johnny. Who's your friend here?"Toast gestured to Elizabeth with a put on smile.
"Oh, this is our new intern, we're taking her out for some training. What seems to be the problem?"Maloney glared at the cheery brit.
"We had some more incidents last night, your partner wouldn't know anything about that would he?"
He sent a pointed glare to Ghost in the backseat. Before anyone could make excuses, there was a gunshot and a nearby cop fell dead.
"Hey Maloney!"All eyes turned to a nearby alley, were a figure with shaggy brown hair and red eyes held a gun. The police all pulled their guns.
"Its Casket! Drop the gun, and put your hands in the air."The figure laughed. The sound filled the air and chilled the hearts of the gathered officers. His teeth were inhumanly sharp. He tossed the gun aside and spread his arms wide.
"Come and get me snickers!"Officer Maloney rushed forward with a pair of hand cuffs and grabbed the figure.
"I've got him! I've got Casket!"As the other officers rushed towards them, Toast caught a subtle nod of the head from "Casket".
"Thats the signal."
He put pedal to floor and sped down the street."We can't just leave Grayson! What if something happens?"
Ghost shrugged.
"He'll be fine, he can't die, remember?"Elizabeth slumped in her seat.
"Still..."They drove in silence for a few minutes before there was the sound of crunching metal and the back of the van dipped like something was attached to it. As they watched, the back doors of the van opened and Grayson climbed in in handcuffs. He was bloody, and his hair was a mess.
"What'd I miss?"
