Johnny Ghost
Ya know, most people would be startled by two teenagers falling from the sky and landing unconscious on their couch. Me? I just took another sip of my coffee and called for my partner.
"Toast! We have visitors!"My partner, Johnny Toast, poked his head in from the kitchen and noticed what I meant.
"Oh my, are they okay?"I walked over and looked over them. They were breathing so they were probably fine. One was a girl who looked like she was almost as tall as Toast, and that was saying something, with long ginger-blonde hair and freckles all over her face. The other was, I think, a boy, younger than the girl, with glasses and long, curly brown hair tied back in a ponytail. Both were barefoot and wearing pajamas.
The guy had a sticky note on his chest. I pulled it off and handed it to Toast to read aloud.
"'Dear PIE, me and my siblings are kinda trapped. These guys are here to help but don't exactly know what to do. Their names are Grayson and Elizabeth. Grayson will know who you are and might fanboy a little, Elizabeth doesn't know who you are. I had to do the copy paste plan we talked about so be careful, Elizabeth chose Toast so she should be safe, but Grayson chose...'"
Toast stopped.
"Uh oh.""What do you mean uh oh?"
Before he could answer, the boy, who I assumed was Grayson, sat up in a panic.
"What? Who? Where?"
He saw me and froze.
"Ghost?"I nodded.
"So it wasn't a dream. It was actually real."
He paused and looked worried.
"In that case I may have made a bad decision."
He looked at the girl, Elizabeth, and poked her arm gently.
"Hey, wake up. You aren't dead yet."She sat up slowly and glared at all of us.
"Where am I and who are you?"Before Toast and I could answer, Grayson spoke up.
"They are Johnny Ghost and Johnny Toast. The Paranormal Investigators Extraordinaire."She narrowed her eyes at Toast.
"So you're the guy Gray convinced me to pick."
She had a thick Irish accent.Toast nodded. My mind went back to Toast being worried about Grayson's choice, and then Grayson saying he messed up when he found out he wasn't dreaming. I had a good idea of who he picked.
"So Grayson, who did you pick? Vent left us a note, but we haven't finished reading it yet. Care to fill us in?"He stared at his feet and mumbled incoherently.
"I'm sorry what was that?"
I could tell from the look on his face he knew I was aware and was just making him admit it."Jimmy Casket."
I sighed and Toast shook his head. Elizabeth made a confused face.
"What's so bad about that?""Because," answered Toast, "Jimmy Casket is the world's most insane murderer."
"And my alternate personality."
Elizabeth looked like she wanted to slap Grayson.
"Why would you pick him then you ninny?"Grayson shrugged.
"He was the first one that came to find. Plus, I thought I was just having some weird dream brought on by too much fanfiction before bed. I wasn't thinking about consequences, at least, not much. I was smart enough to get you to pick Toast. I figured if anyone could keep Casket in check it was him."
He paused and fidgeted with his hands for a second.
"I don't feel any different."Toast looked at his watch.
"Well you've only just arrived. According to Venturian's theory, the changes will take some time to kick in. Would you two like anything while you wait?"Grayson looked up and smiled.
"As much coffee as possible mixed with as much sugar as possible without killing me."
