Elizabeth
"It's been quiet for a while, should we check on them?"
Toast looked up from his drink and checked the clock. When Gray and I had arrived it was late afternoon, now it was pretty dark outside and pouring rain.
"I suppose you're right."
He stood up and sat down the glass of whiskey he had been sipping from.I did the same. Normally, I didn't drink, and not just because I was only twenty and too young to legally do so, but apparently excessive drinking was a trait I had picked up from this Toast guy.
We were headed down the hallway when there was a knock at the back door. Toast opened it slowly, and there, drenched in blood and rain were Jimmy and Grayson, laughing like they had heard the best joke in the world.
"I thought you were in Sir's room.""We were," replied Jimmy. "And then we weren't."
Toast and I pulled them inside and shut the door. While Toast and Jimmy argued, I looked Grayson over. His now short hair was plastered to his head and dripping water into his face, his face and hands were stained with blood that definitely wasn't his, there was even a bit of blood on his lips that made me feel sick when I thought about how it got there, he was wearing heavy boots that he wasn't wearing before, I was pretty sure he had been barefoot last time I saw him, and a black trench coat that I knew for certain he hadn't had before.
"What did you do?"For a second he looked ashamed, then that stupid smile came back.
"I did a bad."Toast wasn't doing much better with Jimmy.
"I thought you were going to talk to him!""I did, and then we got bored."
Toast rubbed his temples.
"Give me the knife."Jimmy handed over a small pocket knife.
"Where's your actual knife?"
Jimmy pointed to Gray, who I just noticed was holding a large, bloody hunting knife.
"Give it to me."
Gray did as told.
"Good, now, both of you go clean yourselves off, and then, Jimmy, I would like to speak to Ghost."
