EL'S POV

i throw my head back in annoyance before rubbing temple. i'm so stressed over the work i have assigned right now... oh and the upcoming annual family trip.

normally it's only me, my dad and my cousin and uncles and of course, my abuela but considering how my cousin, karlie, is now dating hugh, basically all the family and friends are tagging along.

including my cheating ex boyfriend who is coming with his girlfriend.

hugo. who is hugh's little brother and the two boys that me and my cousin grew up together with.

oh and mike.

yep, totally forgot about him since he's not that memorable but all 5 of us grew up together.

i just can't believe that they are tagging along and i am the only one going single.

i doubt mike is going anyways since his giant ego will have probably denied it anyways.

"look who's working at lunch?" a voice cuts me out of my thoughts and i already know who it is.

and i can't fucking believe we ended up in the same investment company, both in the marketing department and both being team heads.

"shut up." i grit through my teeth. god, he's so fucking annoying.

and i don't normally use these strong words but they're the only ones that fits him.

he sits down on the seat besides me and chuckles to himself.

"will you fucking stop?" i scoff and gather my stuff.

"why are you so mean, ellie? it really hurts my feelings." he pouts as she rolls her eyes and grabs her bag, "stop calling me ellie!" she shoots him a scowl.

he grins, "well ellie, i was going to ask if you're going to the hawaii trip."

"of course i am. i am in the family and none of you guys are." she scoffs again and crosses her arms, "i doubt you are."

"i heard your fellow ex is bringing the blonde." he says, "or was it the new blonde? or brunette? whatever the fuck," he grumbles.

mike had never liked hugo. since he was 4.

i have no idea why but i don't care because i hate him too now.

i'm just glad that mike doesn't know that the real reason we broke up two years ago was because he cheated.

"i don't give a damn." i walk off as he laughs and shakes his head in amusement.

MIKE'S POV

i can't believe i actually agreed to this hawaii trip. and i can't believe hugo is being a bitch.

but when grandma ives called, i just couldn't decline. she's always so nice and i'm not sure why i got invited this year but it will be a good distraction.

work has been hard lately.

i've been fighting with el over a project and of course, she beat me but it's alright, i got another one for my team.

i type away on my laptop as i notice el coming back from her lunch break and then dropping her bag at her desk before rushing off to the bathroom.
