MIKE'S POV
"you don't want that room?" i ask el as she shrugs, "i don't mind."
"i just figured it was across the hall and it was easy for me to get to you if something happens. i mean that other room isn't far but it's two more steps." i mumble as she chuckles quietly.
"i'll take this room then."
el is moving in with me which is great because it makes everything easier for us and for buddy—i'm calling my child buddy, i don't care—for buddy after he is born.
el actually packed everything. i'm not sure how and when but she did and now i'm helping her move in.
she doesn't have much stuff actually, a couple of boxes and that's it.
she gags and covers her mouth as i quickly hold her and rub her back, "are you okay? do you need to puke?"
she shakes her head, "no i'm fine. i'm fine." she sighs out.
"okay, um, wait for me in your new room and i'll get you a water."
"no, i'm fine. seriously. i just want to unpack and then take a great big nap!" she giggles to herself as i smile and lean against the doorframe, "well let's get to unpacking then shall we?"
she nods quickly, "yes."
i smile, walking into her new room and sits down on the ground to help her unpack.
"i'm tried already." she frowns as i give her a look.
she lays down on the bed, "i'm pregnant. i should be tired and i have cramped feet too." her voice cracks, "i'm ugly and fat!"
"your bump isn't even showing yet." i say as she sits up, "but i'm gonna be ugly and the baby is going to be like why mama ugly."
i turn on my butt to face her, "okay, you're hot. beautiful whatever. i had sex with you and i have very high stan—"
"we were drunk." she cuts me off.
"so? we were like kind of sober."
"so you're saying you wanted to have sex with me, took advantage of me when i was definitely not sober?" she asks as i shake my head, "definitely not!"
she stares down at her stomach, "what if little baby doesn't look like me?"
"then he'd be handsome as fuck."
"so he or she wouldn't be pretty if they looked like me?" she whispers, "i'm not pretty?"
"what!? i didn't say that!" i stand up and sit down on the edge of the bed.
"but you said—"
"no, no. i take it back. they'll only be pretty if they looked like you." i reassure her as she nods slowly, "okay."
"hugo said i would have made ugly children."
"well fuck hugo. once we get the photo of our baby with that machine thing, we shove it in his face because we make pretty children." i tell her as she nods.
"come on, let's get something to eat. you need to get recharged anyways." i chuckle quietly and stand up as she huffs and stands up.
"did you know my ringtone for you is baa baa black sheep?" she asks me as i lead her out, "no, i did not know that." i say in a non-amused tone.
"it's funny. you call and it's like.. baa baa black sheeeep—" she sings but i cut her off.
"i hate these picture frames of yours. they're nothing. you only have one family photo." she says as we walk downstairs.
"yeah, it gives the house colour— careful," i say as she bumps into one.
"shit!" i go to catch one falling quickly since she bumped into the bottom one that hit the one on the top by the corner.
she flinches just as i catch the frame before it hits her head.
"sorry." she whispers as i set it back.
"no worries, just a frame." i whisper as she nods slowly, "yeah,"
i hold her arms, "you okay?" i murmur as she nods, "fine, yeah. i'm fine."
i raise my eyebrows as she shrugs, "i'm fine. i just got scared because you moved too fast." she says and walks past me.
"you don't get scared when i run like lightning pass you." i say as she hums, "you're not that fast."
"i am, you know it. el, tell me." i plead, "hey, we're having a baby together so we have to be honest with each other." i say as we reach the kitchen.
"i didn't flinch. you saw wrong." she sits down on a stool.
"i did not." i say sternly.
"el," i say slowly, "why did you bloody flinch?"
she gives me a look, "you're going to get mad and me and baby bunny can't deal with that."
i ignore the baby bunny nickname even though it is disgusting.
"i won't get mad." i reassure her, "i promise."
she shuts her eyes, "hugo and i didn't break up because we just parted ways. he cheated on me then blamed me for it. said i wasn't enough, wasn't lovable." she mumbles and i listen closely as my fist clenches.
"when he blamed me and when i denied it," she pulls her collar down a bit, "he threw a burning candle at me. hence the scar. i moved so it didn't burn me a lot." she lifts up her shirt to show her hipbone, "then he threw a chair at me."
"i didn't tell anyone because he was right. i was not enough so he found someone better." she whispers, "and since we're being very very honest here, i have a drinking problem. drugs as well. he kinda made it worse since i was still recovering from my moms death. so yeah, i vape, i take drugs, i drink. and because of the beautiful little baby we made that is growing in my stomach, i stopped and so if i have an urge, please try to stop me."
i go to hug her from behind and kiss her hair, "don't worry, i'll throw more than a chair and candles at his ass."
she lets out a weak chuckle, "it's fine. it was years ago."
"so that's why you never really talked about the breakup." i mumble, "sorry for making it so hard on you."
she shakes her head, "it's okay. sorry for... for calling you theodore the chipmunk."
"sorry for calling you ellie."
"i don't hate the name ellie, actually." she whispers, "my mother used to call me that. remember?"
"she'd shout from the house and into the backyard. she would go like; ellie! mike, karlie! hugh and hugo! into the house!" i laugh as she nods, "and we'd whine but run in all sweaty and laughing."
i nod against her head, "i'm sorry i made it so hard for you. i didn't think it through."
"it's okay," she whispers, "let's just stop doing all that stuff now that our little bunny is on the way."
"can we not with little bunny?" i murmur as she grumbles something, "we will think of something else."
