New Heros

Chapter 10

Charlie stayed up all night. He couldn't go to sleep. He heard voices, but saw no one. A thought that some one was watching him creeped him out. To get his mind off it, he grabbed his magical/mythical monster book, and began reading. Charlie couldn't believe the first page.

"Dementor: a foul evil creature that sucks out the happiness of innocent souls. Keep away." The image scared Charlie. He closed the book, and put it away in his watch.

"Heeeeey." A voice whispered. Charlie looked around. No one was awake.
"Come outside...into the hall." Charlie wondered if it was his imagination, but decided to go to the hallway for a walk.

In the hallway he heard more then one voice.
"Down the hall. C'mon." Charlie followed.

WHAM!!!!

A staff smacked Charlie's in the face. Charlie fell on his butt rubbing his nose. He saw a guy about eighteen years olds, two fifteen year old girls, three sixteen year olds two boys and one girl. One nine year old girl, and one fifteen year old boy.

"Well, well." The eighteen year old said. "Looks like we got one of the heros here, and it just happens to be the youngest."
Charlie felt blood come out of his nose.
"I'm Rex, and you don't look strong." Said the eighteen year old, and hits Charlie with his staff again. Charlie whimpers.

He can defend himself, but didn't want to hurt anyone, so he did nothing.
"You see the two over there?" Rex points to the two girls. "Those are twins, Sabrina and Zarina, they are supers, duplicators. The three over there are triplets, one mutant, John, one magic, Sarah, and one super, Joe. The nine year old, Caroline, is magic. The fifteen year old, Ron, is a mutant. Last but not least I'm magic." Rex pulls out his wand on Charlie.
"Subterfugi!" (Shrink) Rex casted a spell at Charlie, but it didn't hit him.

Charlie saw a reddish/purple shield. He began to crawl away.
"Hey. I'm Rocky, and I want you to stop picking on Charlie." Rocky had his arms folded. Rex got pissed.
"So you're a super. Should be easy to take on. Rana!" (Frog)
Rocky pulled out a wand, and deflected the spell.

"I'm not just a super... I'm all three." Rocky scuffed.

"Oh this... is gonna be fun." Rex smirked.

"ENOUGH!!!" Oct got involved. "All of you will report back to your dorms immediately!" Rex's gang left. Caroline looked at Charlie and mouthed (I'm sorry), and left. Rocky picked up Charlie.

"Hey. You alright?" Rocky put his arm around Charlie.
"Yeah." Charlie healed his nose with his hand. "I'll be alright."
"Next time you wanna explore, feel free to wake me up."

Next morning they all woke up, got dressed and headed for their surprise waiting for them in the cafeteria. Ling and Tom escorted them to their seats, right next to Oct. They were all surrounded by thousands of kids and teens. Never have they ever seen anything like this. Oct shows up three minutes later, and taps his glass.

Ding ding ding.

"Everyone I have an announcement to make." Everyone in in the cafeteria hushed. Oct put his arms a around Rocky and Alex. Again Alex tensed up. "These groups of teens, and the child are brave people. When they were under attack by demons, and witches, they didn't run away. They stayed and fought them off. A round of applause for them." Oct and the cafeteria clapped. Charlie saw Caroline clapping. All except Rex's gang were clapping, and a few other who were seated around them. "These childeren will be put in the advanced classes, and shall be rewarded at the end of the year. Welcome your new classmates, make friends, that is all. Carry on." Oct looked at the teens. "I shall be in my office if you children need me."

Rocky and the group picked a table and got their lunch trays with mash potatoes, broccoli, and pizza. Charlie was walking to his lunch table, but tripped over a leg. His tray went flying in the air. Charlie fell face down, he turned over just as soon as his food hit his face.

"Ha ha! What a loser!" A familiar voice said. Charlie wiped the potatoes from his eyes, and saw Rex standing above him. It got quiet in the cafeteria. All eyes were trained on them. Rex's group joined him. Charlie's friends ran to him.

"Hey back off!" Alex shouted. Rex held his hand at him, a blast of blue hit Alex before he could defend himself. Alex fell frozen solid. Alexa shot her webs at Rex, covering him up.
"Gross what is this?" Rex muttered under the webs. Alexa charged at Rex. Sabrina and Zarina duplicated into tweleve, surronding Rex's group. That didn't stop her. Her extra arms came out, tackling to the girls down. A teacher came in between them.
"Enough!" The teacher said, he was completely bald. "What's going on."
"Sorry, dad, I freaked out and froze the kid, they thought we were fighting but we weren't it was an accident." Rex told the teacher, and unfroze Alex. Alex gasped for air.
"Why I outta..." Alex was held back by Johnny.

"Good Rex. I thought I would have to take you out of the Wizard Games." Rex's dad said, then left.
"Wizard Games?" Charlie asked.
"It's a game for magics. The strongest students are welcomed to play." Rex turned around and walked away. "So stay away. You'll never be strong enough."

They all went back to their table trying to finish their meals, when Caroline tapped Charlie's shoulder. Charlie looked at her surprised.
"Hi." A voice said. Charlie soon realized it was hers, but she didn't open her mouth. It clicked into him that she was the voice that called him.
"What do you want?"
"I just wanted to tell you I'm sorry for the set up." She gave him a smile. "I think you should join the games."
"Why so Rex could kick my butt again? No thanks."
"No. To beat him at his own game." She looked worried. "I have to go." Before she left she kissed Charlie's cheek and ran off. Charlie touched his cheek.

Back at their dorm. Charlie hold a flier of the Wizard Games.
"YOU WANNA JOIN WHAT?!" Alex yelled.
"You heard me." Charlie remarked.
"You could get killed." Lonnie said.
"Look the fliers says I may be hurt, not killed. The game starts next week, so I have then to get ready."
"You can't be serious." Bonnie said.
"I am."
"Me too." Rocky joined.
"Excuse me?" Bonnie shocked.
"Me three." Lonnie commented.
"Oh hell no." Johnny said.
"Alright." Charlie said.
"The fliers says we can have a small group." Rocky announces. "Lonnie, charlie, and I will be fine together."
"You serious?" Alex said.
"Yep." Charlie said.

"Then you're gonna need some training." Ling walked in the room with Tom.
