Beneath Believing

-chapter 5-

But how? Did they do something wrong? Why her? Why Maddie? Why not Mary or Sid or Victoria? And where could she be? This was not a big place... They hoped but nothing could tell the truth. Some minutes pass by and they started hearing weird noises coming from the dark path that they were walking on. Someone was screaming... But is that Maddie? Well, it could be her... so the 3 girls followed the loud pitch scream with their flashlights in their hands. The only thing that they could think about is " Is Maddie okay?". The scream was getting weirdly quieter by every step they made. Is that even possible? Don't this so...Another 5 minutes go by but the scream was getting louder again... it was terrifying to just sit there and don't know who or what is making that sound. Their steps were getting slower and way harder to make for some reason. They were all hungry and tired but they couldn't stop searching. Maddie is more important even though all of them met her some hours ago.
Something was way off with this place. An energy was dragging them to the ground with a high force. They can't give up! They've got too far to give up now. But Mary knew that this story isn't going to have a good ending. Nothing like fairytales...
"Wait... Do y'all see this?" Victoria asked calmly.
"What...? Sid added.
"Sid... Is that... blood?" Mary said while shaking.
"Oh my lord.... We need to keep going. LET'S GO. NOW." Victoria dragged the two girls by their hands.
   Mary was scared, so was Sid but the bigger one couldn't let that affect others. Mary wanted to be home right now. Doing homework, reading, anything but not being locked inside this place. When she will get home, her mom will be really mad at her. Let's correct that! IF* she gets home... Will she be able to see her family ever again? What if her ending was way closer than she ever imagined...? But right now, she is only focusing on how to get out.
"Sid... What are we going to do?" She asked.
"It's gonna be ok! Please don't worry about it." Sid said knowing that this is NOT gonna be okay.
"Umm... guys? Is that MADDIE?" Victoria shouted.
"Wha-" Mary got interrupted by Victoria pointing at something... or someone.
   Was it her? Was it Maddie? Is she okay? Or, is she alive? Mary's mind was full of thoughts. WAS IT ACTUALLY MADDIE? THERE IS NO WAY. BUT HOW DID SHE DISAPPEAR IN THE FIRST PLACE? Was it just a bad joke? Was she taken away by someone? Or... was she taken away by something..?
