Beneath Believing

-chapter 10-

   What the hell was happening...?! The scene looked like one from a horror movie. Two friends trapped in a room with a monster that can kill them even with one of its giant hands. This CANNOT be real.
   After the unknown creature disappeared, the girls were completely shaken down by the entire story. They couldn't even breathe calmly.

"W-we need to keep going, M..."
"No, Sid... I cannot... "
"Of course you c-can... I'll help you get up." Said Sid
"NO, SID! Don't you understand yet?! We are gonna DIE here and I bet the rats won't mind. We will NEVER get back home. I will never see my mom, dad ABSOLUTELY NOBODY. And I also think that the bodies won't make it home either. Empty coffin it is!" Answered Mary discouraged.
"Come on! Don't give up now! After all we have been through! After all we did together! DO NOT STOP TRYING! OKAY?! DO NOT DO THAT."

Mary gave in. Finally. But she kept remembering the fun times she lived in this life. She finally realized that life is too short and nothing lives forever. I think that she was fine with that though. Happiness is just a feeling that everyone wants to experience at least once in their life but saddens also exists and without it, feeling happiness will seem boring and normal. Mary was grateful for experiencing both of them. The happiness when she saw her friend once in a while and sadness when she found out that there may be no tomorrow to be seen. She had to make these last few hours to seem like a lifetime of happiness! There was no time to waste!

"Sid?"
"Hm?"
"Do you remember when we first met?"
"Of course I do!"
"You were on your phone and I was passing by and I saw your background!"
"I know! You were so happy that day"
"I was! Then we started talking! You gave me an invite to a Discord group that I still have today!"
"Hehe"
"We were both OBSESSED with fanfics at the time ( Still am :) )"
"Good times..."
"Wish I could turn back the time"
"I think everyone wants that superpower"
"If we only refused to join that stupid game!"
"Maybe someone called the police because of the noise"
"Maybe, but I highly doubt it"
"We would be in jail by now. lol "
"Better in jail than locked here"
"Sid...?"
"Yea?"
"Can we lay down for a bit?"
"No, Mary! We would probably fall asleep and not wake up again."
"Please! My feet hurt, my stomach hurts, everything hurts"
"NO. Do you really want to die in here? In complete darkness, pain and agony?"
"Of course not! But I am too tired to keep going like this. I'm begging you! PLEASE"
"OKAY FINE! BUT JUST FOR A COUPLE OF MINUTES!"
"Thank you, Sid. After that we will be back on the road"
"Yeah yeah..."

They lay down and Mary asks:
"Sid? Do you know that song that goes ~you are my sunshine~..."
" ~my only sunshine ~" ( Sid )
" ~you make me happy~"( Mary )
" ~when skies are gray~" ( Sid )
" ~you never know dear~" ( Mary )
" ~how much I love you~" ( Sid )
" ~please don't take my sunshine away~" ( both )

After that they just closed their eyes and went in another world, the world of dreams... Everything that happened today really made them see things from another perspective. See the world just how it is. Nothing more, nothing less. Horrible things happened maybe with a purpose. To make them see what was right in front of them the whole time.
The world of dreams was different... nobody felt pain there. Mary saw her mother maybe for the last time and just hugged her tight then went back to Sid and did the same. That's all she had left.
But I bet life doesn't just stop here! The earth keeps spinning and life keeps appearing. And that's how it works! Maybe they are butterflies now flying and enjoying life or maybe they became some shining stars but I highly doubt that or little birdies singing their song or some bees exploring the world. This story can't have just one ending! Choose what you think is the right one! All I know is that they had a full lifetime of the two feelings that I have mentioned earlier. But it is your time to choose if you want more happiness in your life or more sadness. One thing is for certain and that is to live your life at it's fullest! Go to parties, travel the world, try new foods and don't forget to add a bit of smile! Even if the entire world is against you, do what you love. You only have one life, right?
