the next morning it felt like i had a hangover. i hadn't drank enough wine to have an actual hangover, it just felt more like a massive wave of regret. i had barely been awake more than 5 minutes when dean burst into my room.
"decent?" he asked as he opened my door, one hand over his eyes and the other on the door handle.
"decent" i replied as i sat up in bed, a little curious at the urgency.
"jesus cass you scared me" he chuckled sarcastically at the sight of me.
"shut the fuck up, and your not borrowing any money if that's why your here," i batted of his comment, i couldn't blame him however i did look like shit.
"no i don't want your money, i was just letting you know that me and the boys are having a bit of a preview party at the low lights this evening, your welcome to come if you'd like, you can bring dylan too."
i thought over his offer for a moment, sure i'd love to go and get out for the first proper time since connor, but it would mean facing sam and after last night i wasn't sure if i could do it.
thanks to my silence, dean decided to leave it and just told me to let him know my answer as soon as i could, and with that he was out of my room.
although i really couldn't be bothered for the awkward tension it would be really good for me to go, so in the end i decided to send dean a quick text to let him know i would be there.

that afternoon i had invited dylan over before the party so we could get ready together, he always seemed to pull me back to earth when my head was everywhere.
i had decided on a white corset, mom jeans and a pair of white heels, i intended on just throwing my black puffer over it. i paired it with a pearl necklace and a couple of rings and made a bit more effort than normal on my makeup, attempting at making myself look more glam.
by the time me and dylan had actually finished getting ready, dean had already left.
to be fair to him he had been calling us from downstairs for the past half hour but dylan had been straightening my hair so he decided to leave without us.
me and dylan had decided on doing pre drinks, however we began a little too early than intended, (we started at 2 and it was now 7, oops.) we weren't drunk, but were certainly tipsy.
the night itself was already pitch black, only the streetlights and lanterns provided light for us to walk down the hill to the tavern. and on top of our tipsy state, i was in heels, so you can only imagine how many times i was falling over.
by the time we reached the low lights, the party was in full swing. there was the band, a few family members, friends and locals and the pub wasn't huge so you can imagine it had filled up pretty quick.
colourful fairy lights hung across and around the bar, the music was blasting, pints and shots were being handed out like candy and everyone seemed to be laughing and conversating with one another.
me and dylan gave a wave to a few people as we entered and decided on sitting on a two seater which we didn't realise until we sat down was placed right next to the table sam was sat at.
thankfully i had filled dylan in with the things that happened with sam the previous night, you can only imagine how invested this boy was. he'd always had a thing for us to get together, i never really understood why though, he just claims we would be a 'good looking couple' and would 'have beautiful children.'
"cassie, dylan" sam nodded, keeping his eyes on me before momentarily glancing further down taking me in, he looked back down to the table.
despite sams awkwardness, the rest of the group made us feel comfortable, beginning to laugh and chat to us.
"right you two, let's grab you some drinks," joe smiled, slapping his knee, "what'd you like?"
"i'll have a vodka lemonade please" i smiled, looking towards dylan.
"make that two please babe" he smiled, winking at me.
me and dylan continued to chat with the group until joe came back with our drinks.
"two vodka lemonades, " he presented as he placed the two drinks in front of me and dylan, "and i must say that new barmaid is fit as fuck, right up your street i'd say sam."
this caught sams attention, he smiled confusedly as he span around on his stool to look towards the bar, and as he looked back to the group his smile had turned into a grin, chuckling lightly. he definitely agreed with joe, and for some reason that stung.
"come on mate go shoot your shot, you deserve a good lass" dru edged him on.
"ayt ayt calm it lads" he spoke thickly, taking a swig of his pint. i hadn't even realised how long i had been staring at him, but it clearly caught sams attention as he glanced up at me, causing me to look down towards my drink in an instant.
"hey, i've just spotted an absolute babe head to the loo, will you be okay here?" dylan whispered to me.
before i could even nod he was up and off,
"okay great i'll be right back love you" causing me to roll my eyes as he scattered away."tell you what mate, go order our next round eh?" dean laughed at sam, also attempting to get him to talk to the barmaid.
how could i feel so sour about this. i was the one who had decided to end our kiss last night, yet i can guarantee i was hurting more than he was.
and with a smug grin, sam got up and headed to the bar.
it was three hours later and dylan had decided to leave with a boy he had met this evening, i don't know where they had gone, but the boy seemed nice so i allowed it.
i was much more drunk than i was when i had arrived and i had hoped i'd feel better about the situation with sam the drunker i got, however i just ended up feeling worse.
