Maya POV

Liviana buried her face in her hands. I sighed in disappointment and stood up straight. How could this have happened? I yelled at a child..She's crying..because of me. Am I really like my father?

Nevio sat quietly at the table, staring dumbly at his smartphone. I closed my eyes for a moment, turned around and went to Carina in the kitchen.

She was standing at the sink washing the dishes. She didn't dignify me with a glance and I leaned against the kitchen counter next to her. I watched her, but she continued to ignore me.

"Carina, please. I'm sorry." I said. She drained the water from the sink, turned around and dried her hands. Carina took a rag and wiped across each countertop. "Please, at least look at me." She continued to ignore me. "Carina. Look at me." I said in a more serious voice. I grabbed her wrist and she abruptly turned around.

"Don't touch me." She growled and looked at me with evil eyes. Startled, I let go of her wrist and took a few steps away from her. She opened her mouth, but decided not to say anything.

"I- I- I'm sorry." I said in a soft voice. Carina lightly massaged her temples and sighed. "Okay. I should go. If you need help, please call me." I said and was about to leave the kitchen.

"Wait." I stopped right there and looked into her eyes, which were slightly moist.

"Maya, I know why you did that...but Maya, you can't lose your cool like that. You said yourself yesterday Liv had no idea what she was saying..What changed from yesterday to today?" Her voice was soft, but also..I think scared?

"She hurt you. I hate to see you suffer." I admitted. "Oh, all of a sudden? Have you forgotten the last few months Maya? Who made me suffer?" she said in a louder tone. I winced, because I didn't expect that volume.

"Wow." Was all I had to say. I scoffed. "Wow Carina. So much for letting bygones be bygones for now. Yes, I hurt you, don't you think I know that! And I don't know what I can do to make you forgive me, but, if you're going to accuse me of hurting you every time we argue, then..." I stopped in mid-sentence and looked into her sad brown eyes. "Then what?" she whispered.

"Then I don't know if it will ever work out between us again." I said softly. "To be honest, I don't know if I even want all this anymore if you're going to hold it against me every time." I didn't dare look her in the eye. She took several steps toward me, and stopped right in front of me.

"Look me in the eye, and tell me you don't want it anymore." She put her hand on my chin, forcing me to look her in the eye. "I don't.." I couldn't say it, because it didn't matter how much she hurt me, I would always want her.

"Maya, listen to me. I want this between us, and I'm sorry for throwing it in your face. But you can't just yell at Liviana like that. Regardless of what she did, you hurt her too. Yes, she's homophobic, but it's not her fault that her mother doesn't want her anymore. You can't hold that against her, she doesn't deserve that. I also know you had a difficult childhood, and still struggle with the effects today, but you have to pull yourself together. Please, for me." She pleaded with me. I nodded.

"I know I overreacted. Damn it, I know it. I couldn't control it. I was so upset and I needed to let my anger out. Just like my dad did. It's exactly what I've always been afraid of happening."

"You're not like your father. Yes, you lost control and yes, it wasn't okay, but would your dad ever see that? You know you did something wrong and that's what makes you different from your father Bella." She wrapped her arms and my body and rested her head on my shoulder. I didn't answer her anymore but hugged her as well.

Suddenly my right arm twitched. "What's the matter? Did I hurt you?" she asked in a slight panic.

"No, no. It just itches uncomfortably under the cast." I tried to slide a finger under the cast to scratch, but I couldn't reach the spot. I groaned in annoyance and pushed the cast in every direction. Carina just laughed and I gave her a playful evil look.

_____________

"Ehh Carina." "Hmmmh" she replied without looking at me.

Carina and I were both sitting in her bedroom cleaning out the moving boxes. She was sorting her shirts while I was putting things away in her nightstand.

"So you don't want to talk to your nephew about masturbation, but yet you keep this out in your nightstand where anyone can find it?" I couldn't help my grin as I held up a purple vibrator. I cleared my throat and she finally looked in my direction. When she saw the object I was holding, her eyes snapped open.

"Ehh, yeah, so that, ehh" she stuttered. I started laughing out loud. "Don't worry Carina, but I know something that's much better than this." I winked at her while wiggling the vibrator in my hand.

"I'd rather not be so full of myself Captain Bishop." She said with a smirk.

I put my hand on my chest and pretended her statement hit me hard.

"Ok Ok, Dr. Deluca. Where do you want me to put your purple friend?" I said with a smile.

"Put it in the bottom drawer for now. You are right, if I have two kids living with me, I guess I better hide it." Now Carina was laughing too.

Our laughter was interrupted by a ringing cell phone. She looked next to her, where a the smartphone was lying, which was ringing.

She picked it up and handed it to me. I looked skeptically at the name of the caller. Carina gave me a motivating look, I took the call and brought the phone to my ear.

"Mom, what do you want?"

A/N This is more of a filler chapter. School has started again and accordingly I had less time. I hope that changes in the next few days.
