It was pretty clear to Sicheng that, although they were the ones who'd appointed him Clan leader, the Clan elders still saw him as a stupid little boy. They made it blatantly obvious as they mocked his choice of underbosses, and he didn't like that the slightest bit.

As they made a mockery out of the two relatively new additions to the Clan, Sicheng watched them, noting the concerning amusement all over Yilin's face which no one else seemed to be minding for the strangest of reasons. Maybe because his other Underboss was too busy being angry. Maybe.

They'd dropped Soyeon and their luggages off at the Beijing mansion to unwind and chill since the Dong-Huang matters had absolutely nothing to do with the Kim girl and dragging the uninvolved ones in usually created more trouble than what's worth. She understood that fully and was more than happy to comply actually, pretty obvious here that she'd enough of the Underground life.

"Look what we have here," one of the elders drawled, "The Great Yilin, the unbeatable Yilin, the untamed and the unsullied." The mockery dripping off his lips had Minghao tightening his jaw even more than the Dong Clan leader even thought humanly possible. "Not so great, grand and unbeatable after all."

"Someone once called us snivelling fools licking at the boots of our masters," another snickered. "Look who became the biggest snivelling fool?"

It was just two of the milder mockings thrown about the room and Sicheng was fully aware that on usual circumstances, she'd never swallow something like that thrown her way. Her ego was bigger than the damn sun. What was with that smirk playing on her lips now? Minghao's knuckles were clenched so tightly his veins were popping at this point and Sicheng was dang ass sure if another remark was thrown about her he was going to let some fists fly.

It was funny. The Xu boy was entirely stoic when they'd poked fun of him, but when the attention moved towards Yilin, his face darkened like the light behind his eyes went out. It was rare seeing Minghao genuinely angry, seeing how calm he usually is, and how patient he must be to deal with Yilin's dumbassery for so long, so when he got mad mad, it's probably a good sign to start fucking running.

But the elders didn't know that, it seemed. Before they could go on, however, his sister made her grand appearance from the elevator.

She cast a look at the three of them, gaze staying on Minghao a few second longer than the other two. "Just in time," she said coolly. "Come, we shall speak in my office."

The Dong siblings had different offices so that there'd be no conflicts when they were both back in the same country- though the occasion was rare. Still, since they could afford it, why not?

The elders bristled at Siqi's lack of mannerism but said nothing. In this Clan, seniority counted for nothing. In this job field, seniority counted for nothing.
