Volume: ▁▂▃▄▅▆▇ 100%"I-" Yilin rubbed her ears vigorously. "Sorry what the fuck did you just say? Who did you just make a temporary bodyguard for Siqi?"
The Dong boy didn't see anything too wrong about that. In fact he seemed rather cheerful to be announcing this news. "Minghao, of course. Don't you think it's a great idea?"
Yilin didn't even know if sighing in exasperation was enough to cover how done she felt. "Sicheng," she deadpanned. "You do know that Minghao doesn't actually know how to fight right?"
"Well, he survived pretty well in both Blood Wars," The smile on his lips remained bright and unfaltered. "So his instincts mustn't be too bad, I think he'd do a good job taking care of my sister."
The girl had absolutely no words. "You do know there is a better way of hooking them up, right?" she sighed. "This is ridiculous, Ding-Dong."
"No, not at all. On the contrary, I think it's a rather brilliant idea."
"You're fucking bonkers."
Right in Siqi's personal gym, the scene was a little different.
"You weren't given proper training, were you?"
Although no longer as physically capable as before, Siqi was still a seasoned warrior. She knew when her opponents were weak, and true enough, Minghao was exposed within three moves.
She tapped the boy's shoulder with a roll of paper which looked quite important but Minghao wouldn't know for sure. He didn't know what was considered big news and not in the Beijing Office. Everything seemed to just be a sort of 'Oh, FYI' to these people. "You're tensed even before the fight starts, it shows."
She then moved the roll of paper to his fist, "When you strike, you flinch back for a millisecond. It's obvious."
He smiled sheepishly, "I was borned in a pretty ordinary family. My father didn't see the need to send me to any special Martial Arts classes."
That was the type of family Siqi wished she grew up in- a wholesome, loving family away from the strangest of dangers. But that could only be a dream at this point.
"Where did you pick up fighting from, then?"
Minghao shrugged half-heartedly, boyish smile still playing at his lips, "School?"
Right, he was a Gangwon kid. She repressed the laugh that threatened to bubble from her lips. "That won't do, Xu," she tilted her head. "It's much more dangerous being part of the Clan here than in Korea."
Yeah, he knew. As Yilin said, China is the Dong-Huang's playground. They were the Kings here and the higher up the ladder you are, the more people want to take you down.
