I sometimes think I imagined it all,
you know. That it was just in my head. But then there are the nightmares. And then I remember.

Red. Orange. Yellow. Green. Blue.

The Idiopathic Adolescent Acute Neurodegeneration, or, as it was more popularly called, I.A.AN., started slowly.

At first it didn't cause much harm, but then scientists figured out it was only affecting children, and those children were dying. Parents were calling hospitals, the Fire Department, and the police, claiming that their child burned their home or lifted objects with their minds.

The Government unrightfully took action quickly. For some cases, parents who deemed their child too dangerous or unstable sent them away to labs, and either did not know or  did not care what happened behind those closed doors.

That's where my story started: A little girl living in a quiet home in Virginia, too young to understand how the world truly worked.

But I learned.
And the truth is always ugly.
