As it turns out, Colt's idea had worked. By keeping the ants in the Nest and staying where they are at their strongest, the Hunters couldn't take any more of them out so easily. It didn't take long for Morel, Knov, and Netero to realize that something was up.

With Morel and Knov

It was night time, and the two Hunters were currently on their post looking at the Nest in a far view. After not seeing any Chimera activity for sometime, they decided to give the Chairman a call to notify him.

"There's no one still?" The Chairman asks over the phone.

"No. As expected, they've holed themselves up inside." Knov answers.
"Shall we make our move?"

"No, we can wait until your pupils are ready."

"Judging by the estimated number of bodies currently stored in the nest, they'll need to restock in another week or so. And whenever that happens, I'd like to dispatch a few more squadrons." Knov explains.

"I leave that up to you." The Chairman says, he then hangs up the phone.

Knov then turns to Morel.
"We don't move from here until we know how our pupils did." He states.

"I think it's a waste of time." Morel comments while looking at the Nest.
"Knuckle and Shoot can assist, but the old man's kids don't seem like they're all that reliable. So we can't count on them in a battle. The best we can hope for is to use them as decoys. As is, they'll just get in our way. There isn't a single doubt in my mind."

"The old man sure does like to gamble. Doesn't he?" Knov chuckles.

"Care to place a wager? Who do you think will show up?" Morel says.
"I'll put down a hundred thousand on Knuckle and Shoot. If neither of us wins, the Chairman gets the money. Sound good?"

Knov seems to think over, before quickly saying...
"Sure. Then, I'll put...one million on them." He says referring to Gon and Killua.

"Huh??" Morel is surprised by how much he's willing to bet.
"There's no way in hell they're gonna be ready by then. What, are trying to throw all your money to the dogs?"

"The Chairman is a dog now?" Knov fires back.
"I happen to love gambling. And when it's a long shot, all the better."

The two just stare off in with Chimera Nest in the distance, waiting there until reinforcements arrive.

The Chimera Ant Nest

The sounds of a violin can be heard throughout the Nest. It was Pouf, who was simply playing to pass the time. As he was playing, Pitou was still laying on the couch and appeared to be bored, almost like she was half-asleep. At the center of the area was Maw. He had put a table in the center of his "interior design" and was currently eating some cow meat that was part of the food storage. He couldn't train with the puppet at the moment on account of the others wanting to have a go, and he preferred doing it alone so he can focus, so he decided to eat something instead.

Maw didn't realize it, but he had found himself in the company of the Royal Guards a lot recently. It felt like it was mostly by chance for the most part. Like now for example, Maw chose to eat in the furnished area because he went through the trouble of setting it up, so he may as well use it. Pitou just happened to like laying on the couch when she had nothing better to do, and Pouf was fond of it as well when he was reading or playing his violin. Truth is, with the Royal Guards seeming to occupy the spot most of the time, the other Chimera Ants believed it was some sort of reserved area for them, so they didn't really approach without good reason. Some were confused to see Maw there with the Guards, and were beginning to think he was getting close to them for his own benefit. But despite this, it didn't really matter to Maw who used the spot. All he knew was that he would use it, whether it's because he wants to or he feels obligated to.
