The next day he just sat at his desk because he didn't want to do anything. His door was locked so no one could get in. If he was being honest he was afraid that someone would still get in. He tried at the book again and this time it came out. He pried the container out of the wall and looked inside of it. He snatched the first thing he saw. A Walkman. That was certainly familiar.
He played the tape inside, he couldn't understand the words or what was happening.
But it comforted him, like he'd heard it prior to the situation. He smiled and felt a wave of warmth wash over him. The familiar feeling didn't go away, usually this would make him uncomfortable but that didn't happen. This was good. He didn't know why, but it was.
He spun for what felt like forever.
He twirled and smiled letting himself move to the beat of the music rather than the words.
A loud knock on the door made George jump.
George rushed to put the Walkman back into the hole in the wall.
"George, unlock the door please."
George shoved the hole closed and ran to the door.
"Yeah mum?"
"I thought I heard something, could I see your room"
George paused for a second then nodded.
"Yeah sure."
George's mom walks into the room.
Her eyes darted to the hole.
She doesn't ask questions, she just walks over and opens it, grabbing the Walkman.
"You're not allowed to cut holes in your walls let alone listen to music like this."
George's heart sank.
