Johnny's eyes were focused on the big screens in front of him. His head was getting heavier just like his eyelids, nothing new ever happened, not even after the new girl made her arrival in Neo City.
Just when he was about to get up from his seat to get a well-deserved coffee, mostly because he was about to fall asleep on the desk, the door swung open with a loud sound, reviling Ten to make his entrance with some papers in his hand.
"Why do all of your entrances have to be this dramatic?" Johnny asked, rolling his eyes who were clued to the boy that was making his way to him.
"Got no choice. I am dramatic," Ten smirked, swinging his ass more accentually.
Johnny cocked his head to the side and watched him as he dropped the papers on the table.
"The fighters need new weapons for the training," he informed, pointing at the list. Before Johnny could even answer Ten turned around and walked to the door.
"May I know why you only talk to me when it's about work stuff?" Johnny whispered in his ear as his hand wrapped around his wrist, pulling his back against his chest.
"Johnny..." Ten sighed, shutting his eyes close.
"I don't get why you keep trying to avoid me, you know it's no use," the taller man said, not letting go of his hold.
"I'm not avoiding you." Ten turned around to have a proper look at his face and immediately regretted it. It was harder to concentrate when Johnny's eyes were staring at his soul, leaving him naked in front of him. He was the only one who had ever been able to leave him weak, the only one able to put his defences down. And Johnny knew that, so he always played his best cards. But that was a game that Ten hated. He hated not being the one to have the situation under control. He hated being weak. He was the hunter, not the prey.
"You really think I'm that stupid?" Johnny's hand made its way under his chin, two fingers pulling his head up so that he could stare down at him.
Ten gulped. Here he was again. Playing with him knowing all his weaknesses. But he couldn't let himself be enchanted again, he had to put a stop to that.
"I said, I'm not avoiding you, Johnny," he repeated, looking back at him.
"It's strange because in your eyes I don't see the usual confident, sassy and bitchy Ten," Johnny smirked moving his head closer. "Where did he go?" His lips were about to touch his but Ten pulled away.
"I've got work to do, and you too," Ten said turning around another time, but before he could reach for the door, Johnny was already standing in front of it, blocking the way.
Fucking giant. He cursed under his breath.
"Did I do something wrong?" The man full of himself of a few seconds before was gone, and in his place, there was the same old honest and caring Johnny. And maybe Ten hated that more than the confident one because this Johnny was someone he had few chances of seeing, but the one that made his heart skip a beat the most.
"No, John, you didn't," Ten sighed, running his fingers through his hair.
"Then why are you acting like this?"
"I'm busy. Taeil and I have to see if her chip under the tattoo still works –"
"For fuck sake, Ten," Johnny growled, throwing his hands in the air. "Not just now, always."
"I'm just busy every day since the girl arrived, you know it too," Ten tried to justify himself but he knew that it was useless. Because even if maybe now Johnny would let go, he knew that one day he should've had that talk with him and break whatever their relationship was.
