August 27, 1945,
I pondered, my legs were spread out atop the lush manila grass. I gazed downwards, colourful, tiny blurs flew across the canopy at breathtaking speeds. I was shrouded in mist but below, near the horizon, lay the biggest city in the country bearing the name, "Manila." It was a sprawling town of life filled with opportunity and a prime hub for overseas traders. This city, this city was my home, my life.
Tears were creeping, filling my eyes, and my vision began to waver; becoming unsteady and wobbly. The vibrant specks of colour were tearing apart as black, grey, and white blotches took its place. My sight cleared, deathly fire and smoke in the city filled the air threatening its very existence. Buildings, schools, and monuments laid in shambles; a crumbled and eviscerated mess. My dream world dissipated. Now this was the true reality. This was my real life.
Ever since World War II began, you along with many other countries around the world formed coalitions to fight back against their adversaries. Propaganda churned out en masse sparking hatred within the people. I knew nothing ever starts immediately, it slowly escalates, and particularly in this battle, I was here to helplessly watch it play, because to you, I was an obstacle in the way of your path. We were in one of two main alliances, each of us on opposite ends. I supported the Allies consisting mainly of the United Kingdom, France, Australia, Canada, the Soviet Union, and my close ally, America. They attempted to fight against the annexation of territories and countries by your group, the Axis, that being your allies - Germany and Italy. Because of this, do you know what everyone seemed to lose? At that very moment when a young soldier goes into battle, all senses turn off and the only thing in his mind is to survive. Doing whatever it takes, he loses all empathy and replaces it with fear. Mentally that may be so, but in the physical world, these fights take a toll on so much more.
What lay in the aftermath nobody will forget rightfully so. I rebuilt my country with the help of America's economic aid, which will be costing me a 99-year lease contract for his rights on military bases and free trade; go figure if it was really worth it. As I continue to strengthen this nation to its former state I'll never forget what you did to me. Your greed and hatred has cost you too. Maybe in due time I will forgive you, but I in particular will never forget, Japan.

So any thoughts? How'd you like it?
Just in case y'all are a tad bit confused, this short story is supposed to depict the Philippines right after the end of WWII. He writes a letter towards the Japanese Empire stating how devastated Japan left his lands. Specifically he talks about Manila, the capital of the Philippines, torn to shreds and blown up, not like how it used to be before. After I give a few hints to who it is in the middle-ish end of the passage, Philip begins to talk about the 99-year lease contract he made with the U.S that gives him economic aid in return for letting the U.S have the rights of military bases and free trade. Ending off Philip brings a pretty passive yet bitter finish stating the feelings of, "I really fucking hate you for this, I lost everything, but maybe in the future we could possibly make up. I just need time."
Anyways hope you enjoy and stay tuned for the next story![682 Words]
