Dane is a zombie.
Like, literally. He's been on autopilot all day, just holding my hand and not letting go of it. I know he just didn't sleep well, but I'm far over worried right now.
When he almost trips over a tile, I stop him. His tired eyes try to focus on me, but he seems to have a hard time concentrating on me. "Dane, this can't carry on for long anymore," I sigh.
He frowns. "I'm sorry, Willow. I don't want to ruin your trip." My eyes widen and I pull him in a hug. He relaxes against me and closes his eyes. "Poor baby, you're so tired you don't even make sense right now."
I take his hand in mine and walk over to the teachers. "Hi! Dane doesn't feel quite good. Can we go back already to the hotel? I'll make sure to take care of him," I say with a convincing smile.
The teacher looks at Dane, who's faltering on his feet. She gasps and nods. "But we're just about to do some trip with things you have to search." I let her know I don't mind and she agrees to let us go to the hotel. We have to call someone when there's a problem, but I don't think that's necessary.
It's not far from here to walk to the hotel, but with Dane stumbling on his feet, it goes pretty slow. Several people ask if his drunk, and they judge him because it's just 3 pm yet. I tell them he's just sick, and Dane doesn't say anything.
When I finally set him down on my bed, he sighs. "Willow, you don't have to do this. If you want to, you can go back for that trip. I'll be fine."
I melt and lay down next to him, inviting him to cuddle. He seems happy and almost relieved with that. He rests his head on my chest and snores happily. I play with his hair, and see he's struggling to say awake.
"Baby, go to sleep. Being here with you is way more fun than some boring trip. Go to sleep," I assure him and he smiles, intertwining our hands. He falls asleep and my heart does a flip when he makes a happy noise every time I give him a kiss.
I start a movie, not moving because I know he'll wake up when I do that. But halfway the movie, I feel my eyes getting heavy too and decide I can sleep as well. I nestle in a comfortable spot, hugging Dane closely, and fall asleep.
**********
"No, let them sleep."
"But they're a boy and a girl. This is against all of our rules!"
"So what? They're asleep, it's not like something will happen tonight."
I hear the teachers talk about us in the doorway. I keep my eyes closes, knowing that if I open them, we'll be separated.
"Okay, I guess you're right."
They leave and lock the door behind them. I smile. We're sleeping together tonight.
I open my eyes and look down at Dane, who's still snoring happily. I give him a kiss and cuddle up tighter.
He groans softly and I sigh, knowing I woke him up. But when his beautiful eyes open, he smiles so brightly I feel happy I woke him up. "Hi baby. How are you feeling?" I ask and he smiles even more.
"I had the best dream ever. We were alone on some beach and we swum the whole time and we had so much fun," he sighs happily. I peck his nose. "Keep that dream in mind. Because one day, we'll do that."
He smiles broadly and gives me a kiss. Then, he frowns and looks at the door. "Should I better go? The others will be back any second now."
I giggle and he looks confused. "What's so funny?" he asks. "They already came back and saw we were asleep. Well, they thought I was asleep. And they decided to let us sleep, so we're sleeping together tonight," I smile.
The hope and happiness in his eyes are intense, and it makes it more intense because he feels that way because of me. He curls up against me and wraps his arms tightly around me.
He looks at me with a soft expression. "I still want movie night," he smiles."Of course. I promised," I smile and he snuggles into my chest. I hide us under a blanket and start his favorite movie.
I saw it on phone once, and I think he talks about it a lot. And yes, his smile grows when I put it on and he overwhelms me with kisses. "I fucking love having you as a girlfriend. You're perfect," he sighs happily.
He focuses on the screen, but I stare in shock at him. I'm perfect? No one is perfect. He notices and turns back to me. "What?" He stops the movie and smiles at me.
"I'm not- I'm not perfect," I whisper, not finding my voice. He frowns and traces my cheek with his index finger. "Perfect for me. You're my perfection. Together, we're perfection."
I melt. "You're such a romantic," I giggle. He rolls his eyes. "I am not."
His yawn lets me look at the time. 8 pm. I look back at him. He closes his eyes and rests his head back on my chest, in the position we were lying an hour ago.
"Let's have a good night, yes?" I whisper and he nods, not bothering to open his eyes. "I like you a lot, Willow. Very much."
I nod and wonder where that comes from. "I like you too, baby. We would be in an awkward situation here if I didn't." He chuckles and gives me a kiss. "I'm happy you're mine."
"I am, too."
