A/N: The art is by pocketscarfeys on Tumblr! The Halloween special will be coming later on, and it won't be canon to the story! Also, I'm not sure if Macaque's outfit comes with a hood, It was most likely a different piece of clothing that came with a hood, but for the convenience of the story, Macaque's clothes will come with a hood. Also (yes, I know this is a lot,) In this AU, Macaque attempted to get MK's powers but failed because Sun Wukong came and saved MK!

Surprisingly, you managed to keep your questions in until you and Macaque made it back to your house. You were bursting with energy while Macaque seemed tense. As soon as you two walked through your door you let all of your questions into the air. "Holy waffles you know the Monkey King?! How did you two meet? Why did you look so mad at him--why did he look so mad at you???" Macaque made a loud 'ahem' sound to get your attention. It worked and you stopped talking to look at him. "Listen, plum, I know you must be very curious right now and I know you're only going to keep bugging me until I tell you," he could tell you were leaning in with a huge smile on your face.
"But..." "But??" Macaque turned around to face you, "You have to promise me that you won't look at me any differently, ok?" you tilted your head at him. "Why would I do that?" "Just don't start feeling sorry for me or anything." you nodded, albeit confused. "Well," he started, "A long time ago me and the Monkey King were friends. We were so close--like the sun and the moon." Macaque let the ghost of a smile appear on his face at the memories. "But, after a while, he started gaining power. A lot of power. So much so, that the Monkey King's shadow started to get bigger. And then," he paused, "I was cast into that shadow. He forgot about me. He left me." He sighed.
"Wow." you managed to spit out. Macaque let out a breathy laugh, "Yeah, wow." "Are you still mad at him?" Macaque scoffed, "Yeah, of course, I am." you opened your mouth to make a suggestion but immediately closed it. It didn't feel right to tell him what to do about the situation when you weren't even part of it in the first place. But, maybe you could help him cool off? "Hey, Macaque! I know you're probably really stressed right now, so let's go out and eat something! Eating always makes me feel better." Macaque smiled at you. He was a little worried about the Monkey King spying on you two, but he'd never refuse a chance to hang out with you. "Sure, plum, where were you thinking?" you thought about it for a second and grinned. "I think I might know a place."
Macaque struggled to keep up with you as you pulled him along the sidewalk. Even though he was stronger than you by a lot, he had to admit you had an iron grip. He let out a sigh of relief as you two came to a halt. His heartbeat immediately quickened when he saw where you two were, though. It was the shop where the kid worked! "Err, plum, listen I'm not exactly welcome here-" you scoffed and waved him off. "It'll be fine, Macaque! Besides, Mr. Tang should be in here, I'm sure he'll be ok with you being here!" "You know that old scholar?!" you didn't answer him, and instead walked through the doors of, Pigsy's Noodles. Macaque huffed and pulled his hood over his head before walking inside behind you.
As soon as you walked in you noticed Tang sitting at the counter with a bowl of noodles. "Mr. Tang!" you waved. Tang's head shot up and looked in your direction. He smiled once he noticed it was you. "Y/N! I just saw you three days ago, what are you doing back here?" he asked. After you and Tang met in the supermarket, you guys kept bumping into each other! So now, you have a best friend and an uncle figure! "I and my friend were hungry, so I came to the only place I knew that didn't serve fast food!" Tang tilted his head at the word friend and moved his eyes over to Macaque, who was sitting right next to you. "Oh, hello sir! What might your name be?"
"Michael. My name is Michael." you tilted your head at this and then shrugged. He must be trying out a new name. "Michael?" Tang asked confused by the simple and dry name. "Ah, I'm not from here, I'm from America." Macaque lied. Tang made an 'oh' sound and went back to eating his noodles. After about two minutes of chit-chat, mostly between you and Tang, Pigsy came from inside the kitchen. "Ah, Y/N! My favorite paying customer." he glared at Tang who only rolled his eyes. Then he looked over at Macaque, or Michael in this case. "Whos this?" Pigsy asked. "Oh, this my friend, Macaq- err- Michael! He's from America now!" "Now?" Pigsy tilted his head. "I've always been from America." Pigsy raised his eyebrow. "Huh. Ok. What do you two wanna eat?" "I'll just have a bowl of mild noodles," Macaque stated. Pigsy nodded and looked over at you, "What about you, Y/N?" you grinned at him. "I'll have my usual! Oh, and can I have that to go, please?" Pigsy smiled back at you. "Coming right up!"
The Monkey King sat on a table not too far from you two in his fly form. Yes, he was spying on you two, but only because he wanted to make sure Macaque wasn't hurting you. He had an odd feeling in his gut, a really weird one at that. He felt that... nothing was wrong? That maybe Macaque was telling the truth? He shook his head in hopes of getting rid of his conflicting feelings, but they remained in his stomach. Of course. But, even though his gut didn't agree with him, judging from Macaque's history you probably weren't safe. "Thanks for the meal, Pigsy!" your voice snapped him out of his thoughts. Wukong watched as you began to walk out of the store. But, Macaque stayed. "You comin', Macaque?" he chuckled awkwardly. "How bout you try to find us some dessert, Y/N? I'll stay here for a while. It's nice."
Wukong mentally groaned as he realized that Macaque knew he was there. He flew outside of the restaurant and into an alley to not scare Tang and Pigsy who were giving Macaque strange looks. Macaque, however, ignored them and walked right out of the restaurant and into the alley that Wukong had hidden in. "What are you doing here?" Macaque hissed through his teeth. Wukong transformed back into his usual self before answering. "Making sure you don't hurt your friend." Macaque rolled his eyes. "And as you can see, I'm not! Why don't you leave me alone?!" Wukong scoffed in response, "Yeah, ok, and you expect me to believe you won't hurt them later on?" Macaque balled up his fist with a smirk, "Listen, Wukong, just because I'm not going to hurt my friend doesn't mean I won't hurt you."
Wukong frowned and rolled his arm, "Alright, Macaque if that's what you wanna do-" suddenly, you came running by with multiple bags in your arms. "Maca- I mean Michael! I found dessert! I don't know if you'll like it, but it doesn't hurt to try!!!" Macaque hummed and looked back at Wukong. "This isn't over." and with that, he melted into the shadows. Wukong turned around and summoned his cloud, "I know it isn't." Just as you walked into the store, Macaque appeared with a smug smile on his face as always. "Hey, N/N, what did you get?" "Oh! Well I got some lotus moon cakes, but I wasn't sure if you liked that kind, so I got some green tea moon cakes too, but then I was like what if he doesn't like those?! So... I kind of ended up getting all of the flavors." Macaque ruffled your hair, "It's alright, plum, let's go home and eat." You didn't notice Macaque's smile fall as he walked past a certain alley.
