Melina's pov-
It's our last day here and I think we're all more than ready to head back home, except for River. He's devastated about leaving. Maybe I'll buy a place here and we can start coming more often.
I've spent the entire day building sand castles with River. Don't get me wrong, I love the kid and all but if I have to build one more sand castle, I'm gonna scream. I don't understand his obsession with building sand castles, I really don't. The entire beach is littered with sand castles.
I'm currently getting ready for our family dinner to night, which River is not looking forward too. I know he still doesn't feel comfortable being around men but I promised to buy him ice cream after. I told him he doesn't have to sit next to them if he doesn't want to and I continuously remind him that he's safe and I'll be there the entire time.
River's trust in men breaks as easily as McDonald's ice cream machine. I feel bad because I know he's not in any danger but he just constantly feels on edge.
" Come in!" I shouted when I heard someone knock on the door.
" You look beautiful." Silas said, wrapping his arms around me from behind.
I smiled, " Thank you, and you look handsome."
" Where's River?" he asked me.
" In the closet getting dressed." I said, nodding my head to the closet.
" Mom! I can't button my shirt." River yelled, I laughed a little.
" Coming." I yelled back.
I was about to walk to the closet when Silas grabbed my arm, " Can I?" he asked, gesturing towards the closet.
" Sure." I said, letting him walk past me.
Hopefully River doesn't freak out, but I think it'd be a good idea for Silas to see him. They haven't seen each other in days and I know Silas wants to make amends.
I finished doing my hair and put on my jacket before going to check on the boys.
