ALBUS CLOSED THE DOOR BEHIND HIM AND SIGHED. Lena placed two glasses on the table and poured some firewhiskey in them. Albus reached out to take one but Lena drank both of them.

"Oh sorry," she said "Did you want one?" She poured another two glasses and handed one to Albus.

"Pace yourself," said Albus after Lena had finished another two glasses, "Better yet, I'm taking this away from you."

"I didn't know that there were other wizards in the building," said Lena "I thought that we were the only ones."

"Me too," said Albus "The Aurors identified him as Theodore Johnston."

"Isn't he the one who made brooms safer and therefore revolutionizing quidditch?" asked Lena "Daily prophet called him the greatest inventor of the century."

"The very same one," said Albus.

"The Foreign Hope is behind this," said Lena, pulling out a piece of parchment "Nearly got splinched trying to get this."

"Now we know why Gran was attacked," said Albus, rubbing his forehead and sitting down on the sofa with his head buried in his hands. Lena sat down next to him and rubbed his arm and kissed his shoulder.

The door flew open and Gabrielle Delacour walked in and hugged Lena and Albus.

"What are you doing here?" Lena asked "I thought you were on your way back."

"I couldn't leave," Gabrielle explained "Not after what happened. Besides, I think I'll stay till the wedding and spend some time with my daughter."

"Albus put the eggs down!" Gabrielle demanded. Albus slowly kept the eggs on the granite counter and back away as Gabrielle made her way to the kitchen. "Why are you making eggs?"

"Because it's breakfast time," said Albus.

"No, I meant why are you making ze breakfast," Gabrielle clarified.

"I always cook," said Albus "Lena tried a couple of times but the only thing she knows how to cook is boiled water."

"I was like that until Molly taught me," said Gabrielle "But ze whole point of me staying is to make your lives easier. I'll cook. You get ready for work."

"But it-"

"Albus Severus Potter, do you want me to hex you?" Gabrielle threatened. Albus threw his arms up in defeat and stepped out of the kitchen and into the dining room. Gabrielle smiled and put an apron on and started buttering the pan. Lena came into the dining room after a while.

"What are you doing?" she asked Albus.

"I'm just going to go take a shower," said Albus "Want to join?"

"I can hear you," said Gabrielle. Albus's face turned bright red and Lena smiled at his embarrassment.

"That you hear," said Lena "But you can't here me when I'm screaming my head off when an owl for you came in the middle of the night." Gabrielle didn't respond and continued making breakfast while Lena and Albus set the table.

Half an hour later, Gabrielle flicked her wand and a basket full of bread, a jar of jam, three plates of scrambled eggs and sausages and a chartreuse board of assorted cheeses and fruits neatly assembled themselves on the table. Albus's eyes widened as he took his place at the table.

"This is a lot of food," said Albus "You didn't have to make all of this."

"Of course I did," Gabrielle said "It's breakfast. The most important meal of the day. Although I do wish I had more time. I would have made more."

"More?" Albus whimpered. Gabrielle laughed softly.

"You really should have let Albus help," said Lena, taking a bite of her food "It's a Saturday. We don't have to go to work today."

"Oh right! It completely slipped my mind," Gabrielle said "I would have had time to bake croissants." Albus choked on a piece of bread.

"Croissants? Plural?" Albus asked. Lena and Gabrielle laughed a little.

"We're just messing with you," said Lena "I know that the last time you had this much food was last Christmas at the Burrow which gave you major indigestion... Which you cured, so I really don't see the problem." Albus laughed and began eating.

"Lena, I noticed you have a small balcony out side that window over there," said Gabrielle. Lena stifled a groan and Albus smirked a little.

"That is not a balcony," he said "It's an old fire escape."

"Whatever it is, it makes a nice space for a balcony," said Gabrielle "You could decorate it with some plants or cacti or something."

"Well, that would require gardening and Albus and I aren't too fond of getting mud all over us," said Lena.

"I think you can get house-elves to do it," said Gabrielle "Slap a few galleons on top of their regular wages and you can make your house more beautiful. You don't even have to get your hands dirty."

Albus's smirk vanished from his face and a grim expression replaced it.

"Albus?" Lena asked "Everything all right?"

"No," said Albus "I mean yes er- no. I just remembered that we have to go to Malfoy Manor."

"Now?" Gabrielle and Lena said at the same time."

"Yes, we have... to... take care of... the... their house-elf!" said "Got an owl from Rose yesterday. I gave my word saying that Lena and I would go and see what's wrong."

"Oh, all right then, I guess you should get going," said Gabrielle. She waved her wand and all the food flew back into the kitchen and the dirty plates ended up in the sink. Lena kissed Gabrielle on the cheek and grabbed her coat. Albus gave a small wave and closed the door. Lena crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow.

"Tell me the real reason we are going to Malfoy Manor," Lena demanded.

"How did you know?" Albus asked.

"Albus, I'm going to marry you in a few months," said Lena "Do you really think I can't tell when you are lying." Albus sighed and shook his head.

"Gabrielle said something and I I had an... what's the word for it... epip, epip-symphony," said Albus.

"Epiphany?" Lena suggested.

"Yes that!" said Albus "I had an epiphany. A really bad one. If I'm right, which I hope I'm not, we are in more trouble than we thought.
