Chapter Five
First Day is Always TroublesomeLuckily their breakfast was fast and extremely quiet. It aided to Kexing's plan making and was a good change from his usual loud mornings at Yunmeng.
Next all of the students walked to their very first class of what was going to be a very long year.
Huaisang had been right next to his, poking and prodding at his ribs and whispering things he got from his secret "book" collections right into the tall boys ear. It only made the tall boy bright red because despite how shameless he and his brother were nothing could compare to the books the small boy beside him had accumulated.
Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng were laughing ahead of them, hearing all of the things that the meak seeming boy was whispering to the formal one.
That was until someone had cleared their throat from behind them, embarassing all four yet saving the tallest of the group.
Behind them was an equally embarrassed looking Jin Zixuan.
"Can you please be quieter? Almost every one can hear you Second Young Master Nie."
Wei Kexing looked as though he were about to combust and cry from embarrassment as he quickly hurried to the front of everybody making it into the classroom first.
He bowed to the three Lan's present and quickly took a seat at a desk that Lan Xichen had pointed out to him discreetly.
They were barely a few hours into the day and the poor 13 year old wanted to quit.
Thankfully the first day was just the Sects presenting their gifts to the Lan clan as a thanks for letting them study there.
He had seen how Meng Yao and Lan Xichen had touched hands, and he felt a little burning in his chest. The boy didn't know what that was about, and strangely for who.
Next it had been their clans turn and he stayed put as Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian stepped up. But just before they could commence the doors slammed open and a bunch of Wens lead by Wen Chao walked into the room.
Instantly Wen Kexing tensed up, he could sense danger. However before any other thoughts could process his eyes landed on a cute meek boy hiding behind an intimidating gorgeous girl.
His hearing had been lost as his eyes locked on the beautiful boy. He could feel his heart all the way up in his throat, beating rapidly.
It was as though all the air had been sucked out of his lungs, his hearing had gone mute, and his sight was focused on the boy.
All he could hear was mufflings around him as his attention was solely on the boy.
He could feel the heat on his neck and was glad that he had worn robes that covered it slightly.
Then the boy had looked up and they made eye contact with each other, both of their eyes widening.
Wen Kexing because he was ashamed he had been caught yet he did not know the reasonings of the other boy, and a part of himself longed to know that reasoning. Longed to know if he reacted the same way.
Their staring contest went on for a while, it felt like an eternity to both of them. They were lucky that the people around them were so busy.
Though their eye contact was cut short as the boy looked away, feeling embarassed Wei Kexing turned back to the matter at hand only to hear Wen Chao call his brother a servant.
That made his mouth twitch up into a snarl and he stepped forward towards his brother, face darkening as he now made eye contact with Wen Chao.
"And you're nothing but a puppet for your father." He spoke loudly glaring at the man. His aura had taken everyone who knew him aback, as well as Wen Chao who had never been talked to this way before.
"And who are you? Another low born servant looking out for another? Pathetic. You're nothing, you will always be nothing." Wen Chao proclaimed stepping closer to the youngest Wei, shocked that he just stepped closer instead of backing down.
"I'm nothing? Yet here you are bowing down to your father while your brother gets all of the glory and attention. You are nothing but a lap dog, in rank I may be lower than you but in everything you are lower than your brother!"
This had been the first time he had properly raised his voice since he had came to Gusu. However these words prompted Wen Chao to raise a hand attenpting to smack him in the face.
Without batting an eye or losing eye contact Wei Kexing grabbed the others wrist, they were staring each other down.
Then Wen Chao snarled and pulled out his sword raising it to Wei Kexing's neck while the younger did the same, both younger brothers angrily staring at each other blades at each others throats. Neither noticing everyone else in the room pulling out their own swords.
Just as a fight was about to break out, Wei Kexing feeling a knick on his skin and seeing blood slowly drip down the others they lost control of their swords.
With all of their sowrds now in the air, a peaceful melody playing Wei Wuxian anxiously pulled his younger brother behind him while he was still glaring down the Wen.
And for the first time in his entire life he had seen Wei Wuxian bow, forgetting his anger he stares at his brother flabberghasted.
"I would like to apologize for my younger brothers behavior." But that was all he said.
Soon enough Wen Chao hiffed and taking his sword he spins around trudging off with men following him, leaving two Wens here alone.
And thankfully for Wei Kexing it had been the cute one.
However he wasn't able to focus on that as his name was called.
