Lyra stared blankly at the long wooden table in the kitchen of 12 Grimmauld Place. Her mind replayed the events of just hours ago over and over again in a never-ending loop. God, how she wanted that loop to end. Her eyes were red from crying as she clutched onto her dad like he was her lifeline.

Remus slid some chocolate over as Sirius talked with a boy named Harry, someone Lyra didn't know.

"He's dead," Lyra muttered quietly like she was telling herself to believe the fact.

Remus sighed and spoke his words carefully. "He was a great man. I got a firebird from Eezuri, saying that just after we left, the Death Eaters Apparated away." He grabbed her small hand with his larger ones. He could feel all the calluses on them from the years of training.

"How did they get through the barrier?" she asked, lifting her head up to see if she could get an answer from her uncle.

Remus only sighed again. "I don't know, Lyra. Investigations have begun, but that's all I know."

"How's Master Eezuri doing?"

He squeezed her hand as he softly said: "She said they are beginning preparation for Master Fuh's funeral tomorrow."

Tears welled in her gray eyes but refused to let them fall. "I should be there for that. It's my fault he's dead!" she cried out quietly.

He shook his head. "No, if you go back, it will only put them in more danger. The shields have been restored, but you must stay here."

Lyra didn't reply.

"Star," Sirius breathed out, catching the attention of Lyra. "I've spoken to the rest of the Order, and we think it would be in your best interest to send you to Hogwarts."

Lyra ran to her dad and hugged him tightly around the waist. She didn't want to go, but she knew she had to. Staying out in the open, she would become a target easily.

"Dumbledore will keep you safe," he promised into her hair as he left a soft kiss on her hairline.

She unlatched herself from Sirius, looking up at him. "If you think that is best," she said stoically, sniffling. To be a warrior in a war, Lyra had to keep emotions out. She let them get the better of her back on Air Temple Island, reigning destruction on everything.

Sirius's heart broke at his daughter crying. He pulled her into another hug. The last thing he wanted to do was to send her off again just as he had gotten her back after missing out on her childhood. His own gray eyes teared up as a small sob fell through her lips.

She knew this was for her safety, but it didn't make it any less difficult to leave in two days to the Hogwarts Express she heard so much about. A thought sobered Lyra up. "What about my birthday?" she asked, looking at her father and uncle.
