ain pelts the ground heavily in the dark night. Lightning strikes, illuminating a tall, lone building near the woods. This building has no windows and has a gate surrounding it.

This building is the lab. A home of torture and pain, but not many people in this town know that. On the outside, it looks like a simple Electric company, but on the inside, it is so much more.

This building houses so many skeletons in its closets. So many lost souls. But we're here to discuss only one lost soul.

On the 7th floor, in the farthest hallway, is a dark room. But even in the dark, there is a bit of light. In the farthest corner from the door, there is a small light flickering back and forth.

It's a small flame, dancing alone in the darkness. Hands are cupped around it, small, pale, thin ones. They belong to a little girl.

This little girl is resting her head on her knees. Her brown eyes are dull and sunken in. Her skin is dirty and her brown hair is long and ratty.

This little girl has no name, only a number to keep track of her. On her wrist, in bold numbering, is the label 003.

Behind the girl, there is a large scorch mark one the wall, reaching up all the way to the ceiling.

She stares at her fire in silence. Her stare is blank and void of any human emotion. She can hear the rain through the thin walls. Her gaze leaves her flame, looking at the wall next to her.

Her pupils shrink at the noise, almost the the slit diamonds of a cat's eyes. Suddenly, she hears the door to her room click open.

She looks up as light floods the room. A tall man stands in the doorway, wearing a white lab coat.

He smiles down at her, but there's no compassion in it. His dark hair falls over his face. "Hello Number Three, you ready to test your range?" he asks.

The little girl just stares at him. Her flame flickers faster in her hands, growing a bit bigger. She doesn't move.

The man sighs, annoyed by her lack of movement. "Hurry up, Three. We don't have all night." He walks into the room, making his way over to her.

She still doesn't move.

He groans, clenchin his fists. "Get up bitch!" he seethes. He grabs her arm, pulling her up violently.

At the sudden movement, the little girl lights her arm on fire. The man screams and lets go, stumbling back in fear. He looks at the girl in fear.

She stares at him, arm still ablaze. She points at him with her firey hand. "No," is all she says in her small voice.

She sends her fire towards him, setting his clothes on fire. He screams loudly, but she ignores him. She walks out of the open door slowly.

An alarm blares above her, but it doesn't stop her. She makes it past doors filled with children just like her.

No one seems to stop her. At least, not until she reaches the stair well. Tall men stand there, some holding those big weapons that she's usually terrified of, but not anymore.

She glares at them and shoots her arms out, sending even more fire towards them. One blast sends a man flying down the stairs, never to get up again. More screams follow her as she walks down to the ground floor.

She manages to make it to the front door before someone stops her again. "Stop right there, Number Three!" A woman yells at her.

Three turns around and faces the woman. Her hair is in a bun, and there are a few gray streaks. She's dressed more formally than the other scientists.

Her eyes are cold and her mouth is in a permanent frown. Sarah glares at her, but doesn't move away from the door.

"Get right back here, Three." the woman scolds. Three lets her fire die, seemingly listening to her.

The woman lets a smirk split her face, thinking she's convinced her, but it quickly falls when the little girl raises her arm, the arm closest to the glass doors.

The woman shakes her head, putting her hand out to stop her. "No no no no-"

It's too late.

Three clenches her hand into a fist and the doors shoot open with the force of the water from outside coming in.

She controls the rain and shoots it at the scientists. They're sent through door leading to halls, far away from the little girl.

After a few seconds, she lets the water stop. Blood drips down from her nose and a bit comes from her ears. She ignores it as she walks out of the lab for the first time.

The rain hits her face, filling her with a calming feeling. For the first time, she smiles. Her hair and hospital gown get soaked, but she doesn't care.

She's free.

She's safe.

With a bright smile on her face, she walks into the woods, using the rain to wash away her footprints.

She walks for what feels like forever. Blood continuously flows from her nose from her usage of her powers. Her head is pounding and the world is spinning.

Finally, the trees disperse and all she can see is a road. She walks along side it before she finds a lone house.

She walks up to the front steps of the house, seeking shelter from the rain and a place to lie down.

She steps onto the porch, out of the rain. She smiles at her freedom and her eyes roll into the back of her head as she collapses with a loud thud.

The world goes dark, and the last thing she hears before going under completely is a door opening and a kind woman's voice.

"What the fuck?"
