“What you have done is not right! Guys I don’t think you fully understand the gravity of the situation. If this becomes public Louis you could go to jail! You are Lily’s teacher and your dating a minor! This isn’t good guys, I’m sorry.”

“What do you mean?” Louis asked confused as you hung your head.

“I’m extremely sorry guys, you don’t understand how sorry I am but I don’t believe your relationship can continue, it poses too much of a risk.” Paul said slowly and both of yours and Louis’s heads snapped up at his words. Your jaw dropped in shock.

“But, Paul! No! There must be another way!” Louis exclaimed angrily but Paul just looked down sadly.

“I’m sorry, very sorry, both of you. But it would be best for everyone if you stopped seeing each other.” Paul said slowly and your heart dropped as you realised you wouldn’t be able to be with Louis. Inside you were screaming, it was like your heart was being ripped out of your chest and you felt sick and what Paul was saying.

“Lily, I need to speak with Paul alone.” Louis said with no emotion in his voice and you almost robotically jumped up out of the chair facing Pauls desk and walked towards the door. Once you were outside you sunk down to the ground and gripped your face with your hands digging your nails in deep into the skin.

“Hey, hey, hey! What’s wrong? What happened?” Harry asked coming over and sitting down next to you, pulling your hands away from your face gently.

“Paul says we might have to…” You trailed off trying to suppress any tears.

“End your relationship?” Harry asked quietly and you nodded. “It’s gonna be fine! Don’t worry! Now don’t go all soppy on me, I can’t handle it like Louis!” You laughed at him.

“Oh Haz, that’s because you’re a soppy woose yourself! ‘ew, ew! Don’t kiss in front of me!’ ‘Louis you know what happens to my hair when I don’t get a good night sleep!’ “ you said in a bad imitation of his voice. Harry laughed at you but you both dropped your smiles as Louis came out the door.

“Come on babe!” Louis said happily and you glanced over at Harry confused, who merely shrugged.

“So, uh, what did he say?” You asked Louis slowly as he grabbed your hand and towed you out the door.

“He said its fine for us to be together!” he said happily but obviously still avoiding all that the question implied. Louis helped you into the chauffeur driven car outside still holding your hand. “All we have to do is not be seen for 2 months after my resignation!” Louis said cheerfully and your jaw dropped.

“You’re resigning? What, why?” you asked and he turned to you with a broad grin on his face.

“Babe you don’t think Paul would let me continue dating you if I was still your teacher now would he? I think that’s a step too far on the illegal side of things.”

“But I thought he said there was no way we could be together?” you asked still confused and suspicious Louis was hiding something from you.

“Well I changed his mind.” He said and there was a touch of finality in his voice which told you he wouldn’t give you any more information on the topic.

“What did you say that changed his mind?” you asked gently and he looked over at you and smiled cheekily.

“I’ll tell you someday, but not today.” He said turning away but still with a grin on his face. You dropped it and smiled at him. Your heart lept now that you knew you were free to be with Louis, you just couldn’t become public for another 2 months, you could work with that! You looked out the window as the car drove off thinking about whatever Louis had said must have held some impact on Paul as he had seemed very defiant on the relationship front earlier.

Louis’s POV

“Paul you don’t understand! I love her! I’m in love with her!” I yelled slamming my fist down on his bench.

“Louis…” Paul sighed.

“No, don’t Louis… me! You have no idea how I feel about her! Paul, listen to me! I think…I think she might be the one.” I said quietly as images of her laughing and smiling flashed through my mind.

“Oh Louis, you’re going to say that about the next 5 girls you date! You will always say that she’s the one and then find out she’s not. You said the exact same thing to me about Eleanor, remember! And guess how that ended! There will be other girls!” Paul said defiantly and I looked down, frustrated but also confused on how to get across how I felt about Lily.

“Paul…” I said quietly, still looking down. “When I first saw her it was like I was seeing the sun for the first time. I’ve never felt that way about anyone ever before! When I’m around her I feel like I don’t have to be anyone but exactly who I am myself, being without her would be agony. Paul I don’t know how else to explain to you. I love her. Please Paul, it’s how you feel about Clodagh, please.”

Paul’s POV

I was looking into his eyes as he was explaining about Lily when I saw it, I saw it so clearly and it scared me. Looking into his eyes I saw how much he really cared for her and I understood that he was really in love with her. I saw clearly how much he would do for her and in that I saw that he would even go to the extent of quitting the band if I denied that they could be together. Frankly that sacred me slightly, we couldn’t lose Louis. Without him they wouldn’t be One Direction, without him the whole project would fail and with so much riding on it I couldn’t let that happen. He mentioned how I felt about my wife and it broke me entirely.

“Ok Louis, you can be together, but there are some vital conditions.” I explained to him the importance of him quitting his job and not coming out as a couple for 2 months after him quitting so the strings attached to dating a student wouldn’t apply. I told him there would definitely be speculation and rumours about the matter but there would be no way of proving it. We couldn’t handle a court case tarnishing their reputation. He had listened intently but now he was looking confused and I knew what he was about to ask.

“What made you change your mind?” Louis asked and I sighed.

“I can see it Lou, I can see how much she means to you. I could never do that to someone, I could never do something so cruel to a pair of people so young.”

“What’s that?”

“I could never separate two people who are so obviously so deeply in love. It would be pure agony for you.” He smiled gently and I chuckled at their young love. “Don’t mess this up Louis, or else! You owe me mate, now get going and remember what I told you!” He stood up and left and I smiled as I thought about how happy I had just made them both. Shaking my head in slight exasperation at the two I went back to work.
