Ross's Point of View
As fast as my legs could take me was as fast as I bolted out that corridor. But I seemed to have lost her. Where could she have gone?
I got her to smile, that beautiful smile of hers. Then Ellington had to open his big fucking mouth and scare her away. Now he lost her.
Callie. All she's done is turn my life upside down. I don't regret running into her that day at my mailbox. Not one bit. She changed my life, I will do anything for her. I'll help her through this, all I need to to do is find her.
"Ross!" I hear my name being called. I whip behind me to see Kevin. "Check the treehouse at our house. She always runs there when she's upset." I smile, gratefully.
"Thank you Kevin!" I sprint down the hallway and out of the building, running as fast as my legs could take me.
I had to get there, I had to talk to her.
In about 10 minutes, I reached Leo's Foster Home as I instantly began searching for the treehouse. My gaze stops upon Callie, attempting to climb in.
How'd she get here so fast? I thought I was right behind her? Well it also didn't help that I tripped and ran into a couple of things on the way, but she doesn't need to know that.
I advance towards the dangling ladder. This is it. I tell myself, no turning back now.
After slipping my leg in between two steps numerous times and along with almost falling to my death, I reached the tree house, instantly making my way towards the crying teenage girl I've grown to love.
Yeah you heard me. Love.
I think I love Callie. I mean it makes sense! Look at all the things I did for her, that shows that I truly love her, and I'm willing to admit it. I just hope she feels the same way.
I don't want to lose her from my life after I just got her back.
"Callie?" I question softly, trying carefully not to startle her. Although I'm sure my ubsurb swearing as I kept failing on the ladder probably gave me away.
Oh well.
"How'd you find me Ross?"
"Kevin told me. Why'd you run away?" I blurt, getting right to the point.
"You wouldn't understand." She mutters curling her knees even farther into her chest.
"Try me?" I smirk. Callie takes a deep breath before ranting. And I mean ranting.
"I've tried my entire life, ever since what happened in that terrible home of mine to never be happy! I tried so hard. I didn't want to be happy, where's the fun in that if you have to fake happiness everyday. People just got so used to me not smiling or anything so I didn't. I didn't because that's what people expected of me. I promised at my mother's grave that I was never going to be happy ever again, and I'll never show it because why would I if it wasn't true? But then you just had to bump into my that day, you know I could've just left your stupid fan mail there but I didn't, I was an idiot and helped you pick them up. Well actually I picked them up, you just stood there, gaping like an idiot. Then I tried getting away but you wouldn't let me without knowing my name first and I can't believe I actually told you. Maryanne and Alice have spoke many stories about you, and I didn't want to get involved with that, But I did. You kept on showing up everywhere I was and I never pushed you away like I did everyone else because I had falling for you Ross! Okay there I said it! You said you cared about me, something that I didn't think I'd ever hear coming out of a mouth of someone like you. I always thought I'd be a nobody! But no, you changed my outlook on life. You know how hard it was not to smile around you? It took everything I had in me not to! I didn't want to fall for you! Believe me but I did and there's nothing I can do about it! You got me to smile! Hell, I even laughed at myself for running away from you. And when you were having the most difficult time getting up here but I broke a promise Ross, one I intended on keeping, but you got me to do some of the things I haven't realized how much I missed it! I miss being happy and I don't know what to do, I know I'm not pretty. And I think I'm even in love with-" I cut of Callie's hour long ramble by smashing my lips to hers.
She instantly responded, combing her fingers through my hair. How could she think so little of herself? Why can't she see herself through my eyes so she can realize that she is perfect just the way she is.
And her beautiful smile and angelic laugh are just an added bonus.
Deciding that air was necessary, we broke from the kiss but I let my left hand linger on her cheek, drying away any tears that are falling.
"Callie you are amazing! You're parent's wouldn't want you to stop smiling, especially when you have such a beautiful smile." She began to cut me off but I just continued. "They'd be happy that you finally stopped being scared of the world, happy that their little girl is happy. They know you can handle anything. And that song, I meant it. I meant every word. And if you ever need me, I'll be there, you can count on that. Just promise me one thing that you'll never go back to that. That you'll always keep smiling, laughing, blushing, or else I just always play the song for you." I earned a quiet chuckle from her lips.
"Promise that you'll come to me if you ever have a problem, and that you'll always smile, No matter what life give you? Because Callie, I love you too. And I don't want to see your beautiful smile fade away again, after I worked my ass off trying to put it there."
A small smile forms on her lips.
"I promise."
