(So, quick disclaimer on this one. I do not own the characters of the TV show Star Wars Rebels. This is my own character meeting them and having some connections to the rebels. I do not own the rebels themselves or any Star Wars characters/creatures that are mentioned. And also, this fanfic contains spoilers from the finale of the first season of Star Wars Rebels. Do not read if you haven't seen the end of the season finale.)
Prologue:
The dream I was having was scary. Imperial troopers had come to my house, a place of safety, security, and rebellion. Dad told me to run, and I did, as fast as I could, Mom behind me. The troopers caught up to Mom, and arrested her. Dad was already arrested, and was waiting in a shuttle to take them to the nearest Imperial prison. I slipped into an alley way and held my breath. The storm troopers ran past me, and I stayed frozen in the same place for what seemed like hours. Finally, the troopers left, with my parents, and I woke up crying.
My little eight-year-old feet ran me to my own parents' bedroom, who jerked awake at the sound of me sobbing. It was still rather dark on Tatooine, and my mom immediately took me in her arms. "What's wrong, Emery?" She asked in a soft voice.
"Uncle Ephraim and-and Aunt Mira hav-ve been arrested." I wailed softly.
Papa's concerned face turned into one of stone. "Arrested? What of your cousin?" He asked, matching Mama's soft volume.
I shrugged. "I w-was him in the d-dream. He's s-safe."
"He's all alone. We should take custody of him." Mama looked at Papa.
Papa shook his head. "They'll be watching us closely now that they found my brother and his wife doing those resistance messages. We can't afford it either. The little guy is going to have to fend for himself."
"He w-will. He can s-surv-vive." I said through the shaking sobs.
Papa gave me an odd look. "How do you know that, Emery?"
"I-I just do."
Part 1: Part Friend, Part Daughter, Full-Time Rebel
I laughed quietly to myself. Those bucket heads didn't know that the wiring in the Tie behind them was totally messed up. Once they turned it on....KABOOM!!! No more Tie. I grabbed the groceries Mama sent me to pick up and headed home.
"Got 'em. What's for supper?" I asked, barging into the kitchen.
"Fruit salad. And grilled meat." Mama replied, then gave me a scolding glance. "You have a spot of grease on your sleeve."
I shrugged. "I stopped by the metal yard."
I quickly made my way to my room and flopped down on my bed.
"Close call." A voice whispered from the window. I whipped around, my hand on my hidden blaster. A familiar face with white-blonde hair and twinkling blue eyes was sitting on the sill.
"Owen. What have I told you about sneaking up on me?" I said, barely keeping my voice from yelling.
He shrugged. "You're usually extremely hard to sneak up on. Something on your mind?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Yeah. While I was, you know, picking up groceries, I heard the guards talking about a rebel cell that has been causing tons of trouble for them."
Owen smirked. "Nothing new."
I glared at him. "You didn't let me finish. They said that the rebel cell was led by a Jedi, and one of the other members was his student."
His smirk froze on his face. "A Jedi? I thought they were extinct!"
"Apparently, this one was in hiding. Who knows who else might be a Jedi-in-hiding?"
