December 20

The noise coming from down the stairs woke me up, my gaze drifted to the bedside clock-10:45 am

Crawling out of the bed, I'm surprised I don't hurt like I do last night before sleeping as I walked down the stairs everybody was surprised by my quick recovery.

"Good morning," I greeted. As Annette walked up the stairs to assist me, it was amazing how caring they were even though they don't know me or where I came from, the living room was well decorated and the family was wrapping up presents.

"Mum, look Shirley can walk!" Annette shouted and they all rushed toward my direction.

"How are you feeling now," the woman asked.

"I'm fine." I gently sat on the couch next to the giant Christmas tree, the living room looks like an amazing world of Christmas decorations.
Dozens of large rugs, woven with thousands of colors, overlap, covering the entire floor. Hanging on the wall were Christmas lights designed in shapes of heart and angels, on the other side all sorts of Christmas decorations were mounted. A snowman, a Santa clause face, and a picture of the whole family picture frame.

Heavy curtains frame the windows, and Even though they're tied back, they still keep the room warm and cozy, every corner I look there were small decorated stars mounted on the walls.

I can't help myself. "Wow," I gasped.

"Take this wrap-up something for your parents," the woman said, and I smiled.

"Thanks," I collected the box.
But I was still freaking out. "All this is beautiful!"

They all turned toward my direction, I shrugged, and then hand over the box back to her.

She frowned. "Ain't you going to give your parent a gift this Christmas, or don't you have parents?" She asked.

"Hmm...back in my home, we don't celebrate Christmas," I mumbled.

"Why?" Annette asked.

"I don't know, but my mum said something happened in the last Christmas they celebrated that made the entire family including my dad unhappy," I explained.

"Did you bother to ask what it was that happened?" the woman asked.

"Yes, but they just don't want to talk about it, but I manage to solve part of the mystery."

"Can you tell us, if you don't mind," Beatrice added.

And I smiled. "okay it was like my grandma was missing on that day, it seem that they never found her.

"Such a sad story," Annette muttered.

"Is she the one in the photo?" The woman asked.

"Yes."

"But she's dead," Beatrice said holding the photo in her hand.

"She's not, after five years of looking for her my dad thought maybe she's dead."

"So how sure are you that she isn't?" the man asked.

"I'm not sure, but I can feel it that she is still alive."

"But what if she's dead?" Annette asked and everyone looked in her direction.

I couldn't say anything else, but I was so worried and at that moment I sat there with them I could imagine all sorts of things.

"She has to be alive, it's the only way to bring back the joy of Christmas and happiness to my family," I said softly.

"I pray you to find your grandmother before Christmas, so we can all celebrate this Christmas together," Beatrice said with a smile.

"I know exactly what will spice up your morning and help you recover quickly," the woman said, before walking to the kitchen not quite long she came back now holding a mug of hot tea.

"Drink this, it's a herbal mixture specially blended to work on muscles and joints, it will help you recover quickly, she said as I collected the mug from her.

"Thanks, ma," I said but she corrected me and smiled.

"Mrs. Halsey, call by that name."

"Thank you so much, Mrs. Halsey."

"You're welcome dear, now drink your tea before it gets cold."

"When she's done with the tea, Beatrice takes her to the front yard for some fresh air," Mr. Thomas the husband of Mrs. Halsey said before walking up the stairs.
