December 21
After dinner that evening I am walked up the stair to the room, I sat on the bed and make plans on finding my grandma, so I spend the rest of the evening preparing, I have to leave early in the morning before anyone would be awake to stop me, I know that this family had taken care of me, and I'm so grateful, but I have to continue looking for my grandma.
So I took some clean clothes from the drawer, with my grandma's pic, my short note, and I packed them into my small backpack and I put it underneath the bed.
I sat down with a note and pen I wrote a letter starting with appreciation and then I explained the reason why I had to leave, I wrote a promise to return when I've found my grandma to thank them.
I kept the letter on the table before going to bed.
At 5:55 am, I'm suddenly awake, I Yank my shoes on, pull a sweater over my head, and grab my winter coat, with my backpack I walked toward the door.
"Can I go with you," a voice said behind me and I almost scream. "I love adventures."
I whirled around to see Annette sitting on my bed. "How long have you been here?" As I closed the door gently.
"Since yesterday night." She replied.
"Okay, I have to go now, but I promise to come back before evening," I lied.
"I read your letter, why are you lying to me now," Annette said.
"Can I go with you, please," she pleaded
"No, I don't want your parent to be worried about you so I can't allow you to come with me."
"Please, pretty please," she kept on bugging me until I'd heard enough, so I collected the note from the table and added a few more words to it saying Annette was with me and that we would be back before evening.
"OK you can now follow me," I said as we walked gently down the stairs and then through the back door and then suddenly we were out of the house and now on the street I looked at the address once more, 25 saint Patrick street, ware fare district," I said before putting the letter back into my winter coat pocket.
"Saint Patrick street, that's the next street," Annette suddenly said.
"That's good," I said as we both walked down the street.
Five minutes later, we stop around the corner of a store, due to the pain I was feeling because I haven't fully recovered, as the day began to get brighter some shop owners were just arriving ready to open their shops for business, I and Annette continue walking until we were finally at saint Patrick street.
"Thank God, we're finally here," Annette said and I sighed.
As we walked down the street the sun was about to rise and my legs don't actually like they were before when we got to the number according to the address, Annette knocked gently on the door, after a minute a young boy opened it.
"Mum, there are two strange people by the door, and they look like witches with long fang and scary eyes!"
"We don't look like witches," Annette said with an annoying glare at him.
"Mitch, how many times, have I told you not to open the door before me," a woman said suddenly behind the boy. "Now go to your room!"
"I know!" he shouted. "Ordering me around as I care."
"Good morning," I interrupted as the woman turned in my direction.
"Morning, how may I help you?"
"I'm looking for this woman," I gave her the photo of my grandma. "Her name is Mrs. Victoria Evans, according to this letter she stays in the apartment," I continued.
"I'm sorry, but I don't know anybody with such a name, neither have I seen this woman," she said, handing over the photo to me.
"Hey look, I just poured the hot sauce on the floor, I told you I hate them, but you won't listen!" Shouted Mitch.
"Mitch go to your room now!" The woman shouted before closing the door.
"Such a spoilt brat," Annette muttered.
"This is hopeless, how am I going to find my grandma now," I said softly as we walked down the street.
"So what are you going to do now?" Annette asked.
I sighed. "I don't know, maybe she is truly dead."
"You can't just conclude that she is dead maybe she no longer stays in that apartment
Again or this street, but we can't just give up now at least we can ask some people around here if they have seen her," Annette said."Great idea, "I suddenly blurt out, yeah it seems like it was the best idea for the first time until we spent the whole morning asking people and passersby, but no one agree to have seen her or even know her.
"This is hopeless, do you have any more ideas," I asked Annette.
"I think we should look for something to eat, I'm exhausted and famished," Annette mumbled as we sat at the bus shelter.
"I don't have any money here with me, we would have bought some snacks and drinks," I said.
"I have some little change," Annette mumbled. "My mum gave me this yesterday."
"So what can we buy with that," I asked and she pointed toward a restaurant opposite us.
"Are you sure about this?" I asked.
"Come on, let's check it out first," she replied as we walked toward the restaurant.
With a slight push, the door suddenly opened and we both walked in.
Immediately we were in a woman with short blonde hair walked in our direction.
"Sit over there," she said indicating an empty chair for us to sit. "May I take your order?"
"We need two burritos, eggnog, and chicken nugget," Annette said.
"With two glasses of orange juice," I added
"Okay," the woman said before walking away.
