The next morning, dad only hang around long enough to make sure I and Katie ate breakfast, he gave me some money, and then he leaves for work. Once I'm sure he was gone, I drag the kitchen step stool into dad's bedroom closet and pull a box from the back of his top-shelf. I took his Rolex wristwatch and set the time according to the wall clock in his room-7:53 am, very carefully I wind the watch, and then calculate I must be back home before 1:30 pm to give Katie her launch and afternoon bath, it was easy because I already told Imogene I would drop Katie with them before going and then come back to take her home.

I've never felt so mysterious in my life, and I know what I was going to do can be very dangerous.

At 8:20 am, I finished dressing Katie took my bath, and then was ready to go, I ensured I locked the door properly.

By 8:31 am, snow is falling in thick clumps and the skies getting greyer every minute, with the card and the photo on the small bag I hung at my back, there was no way I was going to get there on time with the weather I skid a halfway far from the street and stood at the bus shelter for about five minutes before the bus arrived, I didn't have much with me so I stopped halfway in another street.

The sun had almost set, and darkness is coming on fast. If not for the heavy snow, I would have reached the place on the address and be back before noon.

The freeway whispers by under me as I scrunch into a tight ball, and my freezing hands begin to lose sensation, I wonder how Katie is feeling right now, even though Imogene's place is warm and comfortable it can't be like a sister's love.

So I stood up and take a peek across the freeway, over a bridge spanning eight lanes of traffic, I can faintly see the skeleton on what was once a roadside tavern. Now boarded up and dark, it sits just outside the halo of lights spilling from the road sign that announces. SAINT PATRICK DISTRICT-- 25 miles ahead.

I opened my bag took the water bottle water drank a little, the water was warm despite the temperature, I then sighed hung the bag, and turn to leave.

"Hey, what are you doing there!" A voice called behind me. And I look around frantically looking for the person, my eyes caught in a tall man and a shorter one with cigarettes and drinks they were walking toward me in haste.

"She is a pretty little girl," one muttered to the other and they both laughed.

Two stories above those headlights and taillights, the watch around my wrist began to pull off as I stepped by gradually until only a single loop remains and the watch fell off my wrist into the snow.

The tall man chase after me, in an attempt to kidnap me, in that split second I have to decide do I rescue dad's Rolex and get caught or I should run for my life.

My body decides for me as I began to run forward, I started judging myself for even taking the risk of finding my dad's grandma
