Flo and her family were ready and waiting for her Aunt Lucy to come. She was very uncomfortable because her shirt was a little scratchy.

Bentley was talking to her father her mother still checking all of their hair and straightening their clothes.

A car pulled up to the front of their house and Bentley ran forward to open the door for aunt Lucy with a bright smile. Marcus followed behind.

Marcus always looked stern and cold to Flo but he seemed colder than what she remembered. He was tall and very intimidating. She felt like they wouldn't get along too well.

"You really are the embodiment of my brother", aunt Lucy said patting Bentley's back and slowly slid what was obviously a few bills to him.

"Oh hello Lucy...", Flo's mother said as she went for a hug. Aunt Lucy happily hugged back,"oh it's such a pleasure Anne and Richard you get older and older the more I see you", she chuckled teasing Flo's father.

"Oh but you look more younger the more I see you aunt Lucy", Bentley said sucking up to her and she was more than happy to take it.

"If I'm looking younger then drop the aunt Lucy and just call me Lucy hahaha", she laughed to which they all except Flo and Marcus laughed. The both of them were uncomfortable by the comment to say the least.

Aunt Lucy turned to Flo and immediately looked away. They all moved to the living room where they sat and Bentley started to list his achievements so far.

Flo felt out of place in the achievement obsessed conversation that she ended up just staring at the floor most of the time

Flo's mother tried to talk to Marcus,"So you're on vacation. How has it been so far"

"Good", he replied turning his head quickly looking straight at her.

"Oh what about work? How's that?", she asked slightly put off by his stare.

"Good", he replied still not breaking eye contact.

"A-any plans for the vacation?", She asked nervously.

"No", he answered once again still not breaking contact.

Aunt Lucy sensing the tension cut in by smacking the back of his head,"don't stare so hard you'll kill someone with those eyes. And that's not what they mean when they said you should look at the person you are talking to. Funny boy", she laughed.

Flo felt like bursting out laughing when she saw her mother nervously joined Aunt Lucy's laughing but she sufficed with a smile.

Aunt Lucy then turned to Flo,"still fourth in class". "No she was third in class", Anne said as she looks at Flo alarmed. "Third and fourth are pretty much the same. Good thing you're a girl you can just get marry rich and be fine".

Flo was appalled. She had gotten insults before but never such a backward insult. She looked to her mom who just signalled her to smile. So she just did. And her aunt was satisfied with that.

Then the conversation got boring from there. More like Flo didn't bother to listen.

Her mother then abruptly stoped the chat and announced that the food was ready. Her mom told she had made a very fancy dinner just for aunt Lucy. Which Flo was pretty sure she just hired someone to make.

As they sat down weirdly Marcus sat next to her. It wouldn't have been so awkward if he was so stern and intimidating.

The dinner continued as normal. Aunt Lucy was slowly getting drunker. She would make "jokes" and then boast about Marcus and Harper and everyone around her just dueled her ego..
