Not Interested (Draft)

Chapter- 7- Secrets

"That's my brother", Flo said holding in her laughter.

The guys were shocked but the oddest reaction was from Rai who was looking down and shaking. At first the others didn't notice. But when she fell on her knees they were confused.

"Rai!! What happened?", Flo asked worried, "I didn't mean to scare you with that". There was silence and then some soft mumbling coming from Rai.

Wyatt carefully approached her, "are you okay?".

"BAHAHAHHA!!", she cackled pointing at him, "you thought- haha y'all are so duuuumb like dude haha. Y'all really thought she wouldn't tell me, and on top of that assumed that it was her boyfriend when it actually was her brother, her bro-". She stopped midway her smile was gone and she just stared blankly at Flo.

"What?", Flo asked a little nervous. Rai took Hugo's phone and raised an eyebrow, "Wyatt isn't this our student council president?"

Wyatt leaned over to look at the photo again, "wait that is him, Bentley Garden".

Nolan looked at the photo too, "wait he's our football captain". (A/n: Soccer, not American football, I know nothing about that sport  )

Hugo also looked, "wait isn't he known for being the best student of this school. Also-". The four of them looked at Flo eyes widened, "YOU'RE A GARDEN?!!".

It was now Florence's turn to be shocked she quickly shushed them, "can you guys keep it down?".

"Wow... Aren't the Garden's like super rich and famous here?", Nolan asked. Flo just shrugged, "I guess we are still seen as filthy rich".

"What do you mean by that have you seen your brother's car? And your 'driver'?" ,Hugo asked baffled. "I guess I'm more privileged than I'd like to admit but the driver is just an employee working overtime",Flo sighed.

Rai looked sad, "but why didn't you tell me? I just feel like I don't know anything about you anymore. I'm sorry  I'm such a bad friend".

Flo quickly pulled Rai into a hug seeing Rai tear up, "you're not a bad friend. I just always avoided the topic. So it's not your fault. I should have opened up more. I'm the who should be sorry".

"But why did you hide it?", Nolan asked curiously.

Flo wasn't sure she wanted to talk about it. But they were now a part of it so she guessed it would be better just to tell, "well if you think of any kid in my family you imagine them to be the best student in school an overachiever of some sorts. So there will always be this expectation that my friends, family, teachers and people that knows my family's reputation, hold over me. So I'll always have to worry about satisfying them. But since I've made it that nobody knows I belong to such a family it means less people to please. Also I don't want the attention"she shrugged.

"Though it sounds pretty rough, it's a valid reason", Wyatt shrugged. Flo looked at Rai, "I'm sorry I hope you can forgive me". Rai smiled, "I'm not too mad just a little sad that you thought I would see you any different".

"I guess I was embarrassed for being from such a big family known for being smart yet barely making to the top of the class", Flo said.

But before they could say anything the school bell rang, "shoot we're gonna be late", Flo said and started sprinting to the class followed by the others.

Nolan reached before the teacher but sadly the others didn't. Luckily Rai and Wyatt covered for Hugo and Flo.

The rest of the day was pretty nice for Flo. She felt a small relief having revealed her secret to them.
