Sapnap looked over to his half empty plate with a worried expression and then up at George. He indeed knew that George did not get to eat breakfast, so it had to be bad what he did to Dream.Dream got to the table and calmly sat down, frowning, looking like he was still irritated. He started eating, usually he says something like let's eat, but this time, silence.
It was very quiet, and even with George having a smaller portion, Sapnap still finished eating first like always, and sprinted up the stairs to his room, what could he possibly be doing there.
Now it was just Dream and George. To be completely honest, George was definitely waiting for an apology like always, but it was just silence, nothing, the perfect opportunity to say sorry, but nothing. After this, it was obvious that he isn't going to be apologizing.
But maybe it was George who had to apologize. He did insult Dream and it seemed to be his number one trigger at the moment, given that George hasn't and isn't going to explore them.
"I'm sor-" "Shut up." Dream just casually said and continued eating. Georges heart cried out in pain from that punch. He had been gathering up all of his courage to say that. Is there even anything that George hates more than being told to shut up. "There's nothing you can say to take it back."
It was silent again, uncomfortably silent. But George was done very soon anyways, so that didn't really matter. Again, walking up the stairs, he saw Sapnap in his doorway.
"Never, ever insult him, which is what I'm pretty sure you did, and don't apologize, most of the time it just makes him angrier." "Thanks." George slowly passed him and put on a thankful smile.
Soon he was back in his room.
Half an hour later, Sapnap left his room, but his steps went further down the hall opposite direction of Georges side of the hall. Then he quickly and softly ran over to Georges side of the hall again.
Georges door opened and Sapnap quickly ran in. "He's napping, but we've got like 10 minutes, his naps are 20 minutes." George nodded. "I know he hasn't given you anything to keep you busy yet, so here's a rubik's cube." Sapnap smiled at him, but it felt too exhausting to smile back.
"What do you do in your room all day?" Sapnap went for the door and left. George followed. They went into Sapnap's room. It was Georges first time being in there. It was quite neat and seemed much fuller than Georges room. "So I've got paint and a lot of painting paper, books, a speaker that he sometimes connects my playlist to, notebooks to write in, a few plants, and that's about it I think."
It wasn't much, but a lot more than what George has. George walked around Sapnap's room and looked at all the plants. "Weren't you obsessed with cacti?" George asked, because there were a bunch of flowers and shit, but no cactuses. "Yeah, but they've got needles you know." "Oh, yeah."
There were a lot of books, not just a small shelf. "I'm really not up for beating, so you should go back now." George nodded and left. He went downstairs instead of his room.
It was quiet and calm, unlike usually. Suddenly the desire to have a look around faded away from him and he walked back upstairs. On the stairs, he decided to finally count which step it is that creaks. He stepped up and up. The fourth step from the top was the one. The one that screwed him over and over.
He then went back to his room in a hurry. Once again, he was stuck in his room to do nothing. He opened all the drawers that there were, that he hadn't took notice of before.
Dream's door opened, seriously jump-scaring George. He turned towards his door and waited as Dreams heavy footsteps went towards his door. A door opened, not Georges though. It was the bathroom that was next to Georges room, but in the next wall, making Georges room be in the far right corner.
His heart slowly stopped beating so fast. Bathroom soon opened back up and then Georges door was the next one being opened. His heart started beating just as fast as before in the matter of a second. It kinda hurt actually.
Probably came here to finally apologize for slapping him. "I'm ready to hear your apologie." He said leaning on the wall and crossing his arms. "Um, I'm really sorry Dream, I was just not thinking about what I was saying, I've always been doing that, and I'm really sorry for that."
Maybe half of what he said he meant, but more like one fifth of it. He just didn't mean most of it. Dream probably read his thoughts or something, because he rolled his eyes, scoffed an left.
And still, George was waiting for Dreams apology.
Maybe he was being a bitch for wanting an apology so badly, but he slapped him across the face, and that's something that should be apologized for.
It won't happen again though, for sure. He has to get on Dreams good side if he wants to ever see the outside more than just trough tainted glass. Yes, his window was tainted, so no one from outside could see him, even though there weren't any houses next to Dreams, but people did pass by eventually.
Evening came, he and Sapnap went downstairs to eat, George tried for the very first time ever, to avoid the creaking step.
He gathered both of his feet on the step right before the loud one, and he threw his leg over the next step and landing on the step right below that one, the fifth from the top. But that's not what happened, George can only wish.
Instead he stepped a bit too far, slipped and rolled down the stairs, and the worst part was that this option was even louder than the creack of a step.
