I had a weird sense of pride going to school the next day. And not only because the optimistic mood was everywhere due to the day being Friday. But because I knew for a fact Cartman shared his feeling for me.
At least, I think I do.
I understand, most of you reading this are probably wondering why I would trust Cartman with those words. That Fatass has been anything but trustworthy in all the years I've known him.
But for some weird, twisted reason, I believed him whole heartedly when he said that to me. I was sure that he did feel the same way about me. I don't care if you all think I'm crazy; besides, I'm sure Stan and Kenny would think the same thing if they knew I was counting on all this.
But anyway, enough of my rants.
I yawned as I stepped out of the locker room, and instead of being greeted by a whole bunch of the others, only Kenny was there, leaning against the wall outside of the locker room.
For a second I was worried he was going to give me some kind of stern talking to. He didn't, in fact he acted like he hadn't brought up the whole 'me liking Cartman' thing. Honestly, his normality was kind of creeping me out. He waved and smiled a bit when he noticed me, motioning for me to follow him to the track to walk the warm up lap. I followed the blond to the track and we didn't even get halfway down when I spotted Cartman a few paces ahead of us. He was trying to get some group of boys to stop bugging him. I didn't hesitate to run up to him, and I don't think it was my presence that scared them off; it was most likely their own confusion. I had to remember Cartman had posted the text messages from the other day. The whole school has probably seen them by now.
He looked a bit surprised to see me run up to him like that, and I never looked back to see Kenny's reaction to me practically ditching him.
Cartman stuffed his hands into the jacket he insisted on wearing over his P. E. clothes and tilted his head a bit at me. "Hey." He uttered.
"Hey." I said back to him, sounding a bit too overjoyed. I averted my eyes away from his face, for some reason unable to keep a smile from spreading across my face when I looked at him. My cheeks had also turned slightly pink and I was sure he had noticed, Eric Cartman wasn't one to let things as embarrassing as that pass him by.
"You going to talk or what?" He said with a small smirk after a few minutes of silence.
I turned back to look up at his face. "Yeah. I had a question.."
"Then ask."
I bit my lip, frowning.
He sighed and furrowed his brow. "Is this going to be another one of your sappy questions? I thought you knew already-"
"Cartman!" I said, loud enough for people to turn and look at us from where they were walking. I grabbed Cartman's arm and moved both of us so we were out of the way of the people trying to finish the lap.
"What the hell Kyle?!" He said before calming down a bit and pulling his arm away. "...what do you want?" He said a bit awkwardly.
I felt a pit in my stomach and like I was going to pass out, but oddly enough I was able to smile and laugh a bit at his awkwardness. "The other night, the text you sent-"
"Oh god."
"Shut up!" I yelled looking nervously behind me in case any of the teachers heard. I began to walk again, pulling Fatass along with me. "About the text, was it true? Do you really like me?"
"Well yeah I like you we've been friends for how long now?"
I gritted my teeth. "Cartman, you know what I mean."
He looked down at his feet, puffing a cheek out. "Yes."
I stopped walking and let go of his arm. "Really?"
He frowned a bit, turning around and a soft smile forming on his lips.
"I love you Kyle."
