I still interrogated Cartman about what happened as we ran during P. E. the next day. Oddly enough he answered me on everything I asked. I had made sure non of the others were within earshot while I talked to him, but apparently we were within someone's line of vision.
After the lap, warm ups, and the actually run, we had to go into the gym for volleyball. Since Stan had already put a team together for us (we had to get into groups of four) we were allowed to wait a bit. Kenny and I sat on the bleachers and watched, I was think Cartman is gonna be the fourth person on our team and who else is there to join us. But then I remembered,
Butters.
He was our fourth person. For some reason Cartman had already joined a team with some of the other guys. And the two other teams were getting formed by Wendy, so Butters was left to join us. I wasn't going to get mad, just spend a few seconds wallowing in disappointment. Few seconds up.
We had to rotate between teams since we only had two courts set up in the gym. Butters was getting a sports lecture from Stan and Kenny found the perfect opportunity to talk to me.
"You ok man?"
I looked up and stared at him. "Yeah, why?"
Kenny sighed. "Cartman told me you were stressing about the crash. I wanted to know if you were ok."
"Yeah, I'm ok."
To me, Kenny really didn't look like he cared. He still put on a doubtful face when I said I was ok; even if he didn't give a shit he had to know by now Cartman had become a priority.
After P. E. Cartman walked be to my next class again. He made up the funniest excuses. He'd say he had to go this way too, or that he still had some time. Even though he'd rush off down the hall once we reached the room only I was supposed to go into for my next class. I walked in with my head bowed down as I always did, and sat in my chair, my mind going off places as I waited for the class to begin. Even my negative thoughts couldn't prepare me for the embarrassment to come. By lunch I was going to feel the butterflies I got in my stomach the moment I found out Cartman had told everyone the two of us were a gay couple. I'd be surprised by too many things. My personality would become more out of whack than it was.
Once the pointless computer lab was over, I sprang from my chair and followed everyone else to the door out into the hall on the way to lunch. My phone vibrated in my hand and I stared down at the screen, the Fatass' contact labeling the text made my eyes go big.
Wait.
I didn't understand. Wait? Wait for what? I looked up and after a shake of my head I took another few steps toward the cafeteria, suddenly hearing quick footsteps coming towards me. Causing me to whirl around and get slammed into a wall by Cartman.
He looked up at me, hazel eyes staring into my emerald ones, his mouth open as he panted from running.
"When I tell you to wait, Jew," He breathed. "You wait."
I blinked and squirmed. "Yeah ok." I was trying not to blush, as if looking away would make my face then less pink. Being slammed against a wall by Cartman for any reason made my knees weak.
He lowered his arm and I was allowed to walk to the cafeteria with the brunette trailing behind me. His hands stuffed into his jacket pockets. He looked like he was thinking hard about something but whenever I looked at him he would look up at me, I immediately turned around, red curls desperately trying to catch up with the turning of my head.
When we finally made it to where Kenny and Stan were sitting around a circular table, Cartman didn't sit down. Even when I did, he just kept walking.
That disappointed me. And I could feel it.
I got exceptionally irritated and stood up. "Where are you going Fatass?"
Cartman didn't turn around and went to sit with some guys I had never seen before. Which was odd, living in a small town you would've thought anyone knows anybody.
Stan was tugging on the bottom of my jacket from where he sat. I sat down and glared at my food. I probably looked insane, handing my food a death glare like the one plastered onto my face.
"Dude." I heard Stan warn. "Are you ok?"
I nodded and looked up at him and Kenny.
The blond in the orange hoodie tilted his head. "What's been going on with you and Cartman?"
He opened his mouth to say more, but I cut him off. "Nothing! Cartman's just being a douche. What's new?"
"I thought you of all people would be happy Cartman wasn't really hanging out with us." Kenny mused.
Stan agreed. "Yeah."
I picked at my food. "It doesn't matter." I couldn't tell whether or not they were suspecting something or if they were both just confused. "I'm ecstatic."
It was at that moment, those few seconds that everything could've stayed the way it was, that I realized how much could change in a matter of seconds. Kenny leaned over the table, and I stared at him. He looked at Stan from the corner of his eye and decided to just walk around to the other side of me.
The blond sat beside me and I instinctively moved closer to Stan. My efforts didn't mean anything, not to Kenny. He leaned in and whispered in my ear..
"You like Cartman, don't you?"
